Next Monday - January 13th - from 6 to 8 pm join me on Talk with Sue "For the Record" Series 2 After the Sanction with special guest Danny Dumaresque.
Danny is also featured in Talk with Sue For the Record in 2013 Pre-Sanction.
After the energy crisis of the last couple of weeks - left over a hundred thousand people without power - rolling blackouts - school and college closures - and worse several of our people sick and one citizen dead from carbon monoxide - many people are asking how and why.
We have heard from government, Nalcor, and Muskrat supporters over and over on talk shows - social media - and through news conferences and news releases. Now we need to hear from people with a different message - a different point of view - and those who are not afraid to speak openly and frankly about this situation.
Danny Dumaresque is a former member of the Board of Newfoundland and Labrador - a candidate for the provincial Liberal leadership - a former MHA - a businessman - father and a strong advocate for all things Labrador.
Dumaresque has spoken openly over many years regarding Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Nalcor and has spent countless hours reviewing Nalcor material on Muskrat Falls, researching tunnels across water for transport and energy, energy choices, energy for industrial development, and achieving true energy independence.
The show will feature Danny Dumaresque live and unfettered. He will have 2 hours to talk about what we've all been talking about.
If you have any questions you would like me to ask Danny - please leave them in the comments section.

The previous 10 episodes have garnered over 25,000 listens and downloads.
Love to have you join us.
When listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers about events in this province, there seems to be a missing link. One that bridges all that information together and provides a way for people to contribute, express or lobby their concerns in their own time. After-all, this is our home and everyone cannot fit in Lukie's boat and paddle their way to Upper Canada, nor should we!

NL Media take heed of the Rob Ford Principle
Another short post:
I like many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are listening to everything we can on the current crisis in our electrical system.
I like many others are also noticing the careful wording and spin being used by the Premier, Minister Dalley and Ed Martin.
I have noticed that many of the predictable questions asked by the media already have predictable answers at the ready.
Remember the Rob Ford Principle: you didn't ask me the right question.
So either the media gets down and at it or we will have to wait for Kathy and Ed to do a Rob Ford.
I do not expect Kathy or Ed to do that so - can we have the media up the ante or at least keep pace with the tweeters and bloggers? You have direct access to the people responsible - use it to get all the information - not just what they want you to have.

Critical Situation and Crisis - The Premier
This will be a short post:
The Premier on VOCM this morning said "this is not a crisis" over and over.
However - when the Premier was talking about being accountable - open - and transparent about the goings on with our Electrical system the Premier says not now we are in a "critical situation".
Yes Premier - critical political situation while the rest of us are in a crisis.
We need the resignations of two of our employees immediately - the first Premier Kathy Dunderdale and the second CEO Nalcor Ed Martin. Gilbert Bennett should follow close behind them. Then and only then can we really deal with this crisis.
The poles are very much more stable than the polls for the Premier - so her crisis is the poll.

VP Hydro - Quote of the Decade
Yesterday produced the quote of the decade.
It is one of those statements that needs nothing else said.
It is one of those statements that makes one want to pack up their bags and move from their beloved Newfoundland and Labrador.
It is one of those statements that you consume and consume again - then just shake your head.
Then it Dawn's on you.
These are the experts.
It is time to clean house both politically and corporately within Nalcor.
Here's the quote as reproduced in a CBC story "We don't build the system to meet extreme circumstances, because it becomes very costly," said Henderson. "So what we do is we plan our generation to meet what we'd call a normal cold winter day, and what we'd normally experience."

If you're Happy - Clap your Muskrat Paws
The biggest tell-tale of a problem is when the happy believers find it necessary to thwart those who want more information and answers.
It is one of the largest red flags of white-collar crime and corporate corruption. Silence the naysayers.
If you are one of the happy ones - content that Muskrat is the best deal - content that NL Hydro is run to perfection - that Kathy Dunderdale is one of our times best minds and that Ed Martin is an energy guru - then good for you. Sit quietly in your content houses and dream of butterflies and lollipops.
There is no reason whatsoever for those who are "onside" to try and dissuade others from being more skeptical, inquiring, or involved in public discourse. There is no reason whatsoever for government members to use words like naysayers, or pessimists, or partisans and/or conspiracy theorists - when speaking about the people they work for. People who want to ask questions and dig deeper into 8-10 billion dollar projects that they and the future generations will pay for.
When government members do that to citizens - it is not for altruistic purposes. It is only for political reasons - in that they do not want to subject themselves to criticism.
The world is damn well square and don't you question our experts. We will build things to fit a square world and don't be damn partisan and stop progress. Square is the least cost option and we will hear nothing more. We will hire "independent" analysts and tell them to investigate "square" and check to see if the information we provide that resulted in "square" is accurate.
If we remove skepticism and inquiring minds from our world - it would be square.
The mess we are in today should cause more questioning and more skepticism - and right on time like trained seals - the spinners - or happy people appear. If you are happy good for you - let others who want to prevent another Enron or Canary Wharf do their thing.
