Tory oversights of which Dave Brazil owns the most recent must cause all people of Newfoundland and Labrador to pause.
In Canada right now we have a Senate mess that has some files referred to the RCMP, Senators repaying hundreds of thousands of dollars, the PM's former Chief of Staff cutting a personal cheque to cover Duffy (a Tory Senator), and hundred's of thousands of tax payer dollars spent to audit the oversights, omissions, falsehoods, half-truths, and possible criminal behavior of some of our Upper Chamber. The House of sober second thought has become the House of drunken spending.
Not too long ago we had Steve Kent apologizing on YouTube for his failure to achieve complete information on the Boy Scouts situation before commenting publicly about what he said were "facts".
Then there is the accidental expropriation of what has been called the entire community of Grand Falls - Windsor under the then Minister now Premier Kathy Dunderdale.
And who can forget the stream of MHA's led away in handcuffs for stealing from the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Peter Penashue fiasco still resonates in the Big Land. Oversight - Oversight - Oversight
So now we have Brazil who violated the Member's Code of Conduct apologizing for yet another OVERSIGHT.
So then ask yourself - is it it any way possible that there has been any oversight in this Muskrat Falls deal. Is it in any way possible that serious mistakes have been made and missed? In ten years will we be hearing yet again that it was just an oversight - I apologize.
Lack of an escalation clause in the Upper Churchill agreement was an oversight - how many billions has that cost?
And last but not least Bill 29 - The oversight Bill. Because we can't see things means Cabinet gets a future pass to claim oversight.
Sorry - there are too many red flags to proceed with this deal on Muskrat Falls.
When listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers about events in this province, there seems to be a missing link. One that bridges all that information together and provides a way for people to contribute, express or lobby their concerns in their own time. After-all, this is our home and everyone cannot fit in Lukie's boat and paddle their way to Upper Canada, nor should we!

Steve Kent hides behind Cloak? Come out in the Open!
Kent and Harper - two Steve's I want to forget but still living with their incompetence.
Harper lies and generally speaking is not competent on matters of Canada.
Kent just yaps and then re-yaps to explain or re-explain whatever he is talking about.
Both play around with democracy like it's an institution they own and are willing to do whatever to portray favourably whatever outcome they are seeking.
When Kent was dealing with the Boy Scouts of Canada scandal - he assured us he checked and there was nothing hidden. But then he re-explained that there was - he just did not know at the time. Steve's facts are apparently determined based on Steve's knowledge at any given time and not the actual facts of a situation. This makes him dangerous as a public servant.
A fact is: A thing that is indisputably the case.
First of all there are two measures of fairness and balance when the Tories wish to reveal information.
One for Ross Reid and Len Simms, and another for Sue Kelland-Dyer (me)
But let's review what Mr. Kent had to say in the House of Assembly on March 13th 2013.
______________________________
They talk about fiscal responsibility and they suggest mismanagement when we provided, in the past, modest bonuses to executives who are doing great work to improve and strengthen the public services we provide. They will talk about those modest bonuses, and the Minister of Finance addressed those in Question Period today, but you will not hear them talk about the $59,000 they paid to Sue Kelland-Dyer for consulting work from May 2001 to April 2002. May 2001 to April 2002, they paid $59,000 to Sue Kelland-Dyer for consulting work.
Mr. Speaker, the folks over there, like the hon. Member for the Bay of Islands and the Leader of the Opposition, talk about fiscal responsibility, but they will not tell you about what happened several months later in December 2002. In December 2002 they spent $88,000 to hire none other than Sue Kelland-Dyer again.
SOME HON. MEMBERS: Oh, oh!
MR. KENT: Eighty-eight thousand dollars, because she was out criticizing government, but once a couple of payments over a period of time totalling $59,000 and then $88,000 on top of that to be a consultant in the Premier's office to monitor the radio shows, Mr. Speaker, and the polls. It is rather disingenuous for members opposite to stand up and talk to us today about fiscal responsibility.
______________________________
This comparative to Len Simms and Ross Reid?
If we are going to talk about private citizens who no longer are under the employ of government and who cannot answer statements made in the People's House of Assembly - then perhaps we should try to do it fairly.
Len Simms and Ross Reid are long-standing Tories - previously elected Tories - fundraising Tories and remain employed by the Government or a Government Agency.
I am not a long-standing Liberal - not previously elected as a Liberal nor run as a Liberal Candidate.
In fact, Mr. Kent, Liberals used to call me a Tory when I opposed the governments of Clyde Wells and Brian Tobin.
I did not take a leave of absence or quit and hit the campaign trail or become a campaign co-chair and then get re-hired after an election.
Please advise us all of the total dollars I have ever received from working with the government, opposition, or as a consultant and then reveal the total compensation that Ross Reid and Len Simms have received.
Then Kent suggests that I was given $88,000 by the government because I opposed the government and then as a consultant to the Premier's Office to monitor Open-Line shows and polls.
First Mr. Kent you should seek the report that was completed by me as a consultant - release it - and then discuss the contents. The "Crown Jewels".
Then you need to ask yourself if I was actually monitoring Open-Line shows and polls or was I in fact working on things such as the need to establish the Ombudsman's Office, Office of the Child and Youth Advocate, A report on our Place in Canada; and policy matters such as natural resource developments, equalization, and class-action lawsuits.
You are a poor excuse of an MHA and even more so as the holder of facts.
Give me a place and time that you and I can discuss these matters in a public forum. Let's see how you hold up when the House of Assembly cloak is removed.

Conspiracy Theories and Pillars of our Community
The Pillars of our Community
As you read the post below - remember that all these people were "successful" - "trustworthy" - and some even "heroes". Then remember there were those who tried to do the right thing - tried to stop these things from getting worse and prevent the victim list from getting larger. Those people were not listened to - the perpetrators were protected by society while more and more people suffered.
Never stop asking questions - never stop peeling back the layers of onion - never stop sniffing when there is a stink - never place anybody on a societal pedestal so high as to become untouchable.
Those who plan to or are currently involved in frauds against society or crimes against children and seniors - think again. You ALL get caught.
Below is just a sample of the thousands of pillars that crumbled and fell. The problem is we should be trying to dig out the schemes, the frauds, and the dirt before more and more children are harmed, before more economies of countries fall, and before our children's future is robbed from them.
1. In January 2011, Joe Paterno learned prosecutors were investigating his longtime assistant coach Jerry Sandusky for sexually assaulting young boys. Soon, Mr. Paterno had testified before a grand jury, and the rough outlines of what would become a giant scandal had been published in a local newspaper.
That same month, Mr. Paterno, the football coach at Penn State,
began negotiating with his superiors to amend his contract, with the
timing something of a surprise because the contract was not set to
expire until the end of 2012, according to university documents and
people with knowledge of the discussions. By August, Mr. Paterno and the
university’s president, both of whom were by then embroiled in the
Sandusky investigation, had reached an agreement. Read More Here
Mr. Paterno was to be paid $3 million at the end of the 2011 season if
he agreed it would be his last.
2. J P Morgan disclosed on Friday that losses on its botched credit bet could climb to more than $7 billion and that the bank’s traders may have intentionally tried to obscure the full extent of the red ink on the disastrous trades.
Mounting concerns about valuing the trades led the company to announce that its earnings for the first quarter were no longer reliable and would be restated. Federal regulators, who were already examining the trades, are now looking at whether employees of the nation’s biggest bank by assets intended to defraud investors, according to people with knowledge of the matter. 3. In September 1988, Fr. James Hickey pled guilty to 20 charges of sexual assault, gross indecency and indecent assault involving teenage boys while he was a parish priest on the Burin Peninsula. He spent five years in prison. Despite Hickey’s criminal conviction the Roman Catholic Church fought the victim’s claims for compensation for over 20 years.
In February 2009, the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador ruled that the Roman Catholic Church in St. John’s was responsible ("vicariously liable") for the sexual abuse of eight former altar boys by disgraced priest, Reverend James Hickey. Read More Here
4. Accounting firm Arthur Andersen had already been found guilty in the
court of public opinion, and paid a heavy penalty. Clients deserted;
employees fled. In fact the Chicago firm was barely alive, but one
question remained: What would its epitaph be, the lesson for others? An
answer came last Saturday, when a Houston jury found Andersen guilty of
obstructing justice. It provided a moment of vindication for investors
who lost more than $60 billion in the spectacular collapse of Enron,
whose books had been audited by Andersen. But the verdict held a twist:
at first the case seemed to hinge on whether an Andersen employee
ordered tons of Enron paperwork to be shredded before investigators
arrived. Read More Here
5. A man many people saw as a possible heir to Danny Williams as
(Newfoundland & Labrador) premier was handcuffed and escorted to
jail Friday (April 17).
Ed Byrne-a former cabinet minister and the first politician named in the constituency spending scandal that rocked the province three years ago-was sentenced to two years less a day in jail in provincial court in St. John's.
Ed Byrne-a former cabinet minister and the first politician named in the constituency spending scandal that rocked the province three years ago-was sentenced to two years less a day in jail in provincial court in St. John's.
The 45-year-old had pleaded guilty to two fraud charges and was given the prison term for fraud over $5,000. He was also given 18 months in jail for a single count of frauds on the government. Both sentences will be served concurrently. Read More Here
6. U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Sean Ola-Ojo,
31, of Brooklyn, New York; Angelo Louissaint, 38, of West Babylon, New
York; and Jennifer Johnson, 36, of Dix Hills, New York, have been
indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with conspiracy, mail
fraud, and wire fraud. In addition, Louissaint is charged with money
laundering. The defendants are accused of defrauding Flaherty Funding, a
mortgage company located in Rochester. The charges carry a maximum
penalty of 20 years in jail, a fine up to $500,000 fine, or both.
In one instance, the purported seller of the property did not even
own the property that was sold to the straw-buyer. Defendant Johnson
prepared fake title insurance for this transaction, creating the
appearance of valid title in the property, in order to induce Flaherty
Funding to issue a mortgage loan.
As a result of this scheme, Flaherty Funding issued three mortgage
loans to straw-buyers in the amounts of $533,850, $533,850 and $646,300,
totaling $1,714,000. The vast majority of the mortgage loan proceeds
went to defendants. In addition, Ola-Ojo, Louissaint, and Johnson
submitted two other false applications, but those transactions did not
close. Read More Here
7. U.S. federal agents have arrested a telemarketer who once ran a government-supported call centre operation in Newfoundland. The Department of Homeland Security says in court documents that it has been investigating Michael Mouyal “for running an international telemarketing scheme,” and committing mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering. 8. An independent review of six decades of Scouts Canada records revealed that the organization failed at least 65 times to report allegations of sexual misconduct to authorities. Not all of those are ancient history.
Thirteen of the 65 incidents came to the Scouts' attention since 1992, when it became mandatory to report everything suspicious to police, said the report by investigators at KPMG.
The review was released on Monday. Read More Here

9. The Bank of Montreal is suing hundreds of people in Alberta,
including lawyers, mortgage brokers and four of its own employees, in
what is one of the largest alleged cases of mortgage fraud in Canadian
history.
Legal documents obtained exclusively by CBC News allege the bank was the target
of a sophisticated fraud operated by 14 inter-connected groups. The
documents claim the scheme generated at least $140 million, about $70
million of which was for phoney mortgages.
The bank has estimated it may lose as much as $30 million. Toronto forensic accountant Al Rosen said he has never seen anything like it. Read More Here
10. A Quebec man who got rich at the expense of unsophisticated investors and the federal and provincial tax departments has lost his bid to appeal his case at the Supreme Court. Jacques Gagne, from Longueuil, Que., was sentenced in 2010 by Quebec Court Judge Ellen Pare to 42 months in prison for tax evasion.
Pare said she took into consideration the degree of preparation and premeditation, and the fact that Gagne targeted people who were financially vulnerable. "They were the instruments of his crime," she said. From 1997 to 2000, Gagne used a series of shell companies he created to drain more than $3 million from the RRSPs and locked-in retirement accounts (LIRAs) of 152 people recruited through newspaper ads. Will Steve Kent ever Learn? Transparency Essential!
Watching Steve Kent as the Deputy Chair of Committees reminds me why some people should not be in a position of authority or power.
Frankly some of his comments today reminded me of a little boy hanging on to the jacket of a parent and saying I want to be a Tory too.
Steve has in the past suggested that he was not provided with all information. As a result he made statements regarding a matter that ended up being incomplete. Surely he can rationalize that the blocking of information is not a "good" thing or a "progressive" policy.
Below please read why Steve Kent should know that blocking or withholding information is not progressive or positive. It does not protect people and it prevents the truth from surfacing until further damage is done. Please notice that Steve says, "To our knowledge there has not been deviation from this policy by Scouts Canada.” That's the problem Steve you did not have all the information.
Steve
Kent, in an exclusive interview with The Fifth Estate, acknowledges
Scouts Canada did not report all past sexual abuse allegations to the
police. (CBC)
Kent was responding to revelations from CBC News that it appeared several cases were not handed over to the police.
Three months ago, Kent posted a YouTube video insisting the organization had always gone to police. “Any information that Scouts Canada obtains related to abuse allegations is communicated to police," he said. "To our knowledge there has not been deviation from this policy by Scouts Canada.”
Now Kent says he was wrong.
The Lost Boys airs at 9 pm on CBC-TV and will be rebroadcast on CBC News Network.
“My understanding has changed. There are indeed cases … where
information was not brought to the authorities fast enough, and that is
deeply troubling… I’ve actually instructed our staff to get in touch
with the OPP [Ontario Provincial Police] to provide the information we
do have.”
One final note Mr. Chair - Have you learned Steve or were you placating the public?

Scouts Canada's chief commissioner,
Steve Kent, says he now accepts that his organization did not report
all allegations of sexual abuse to police in past decades, contrary to
previous denials.
The admission came in an interview with CBC’s The Fifth Estate as part of its ongoing investigation into how Scouts Canada dealt with past cases of sexual abuse.

The CBC's The Fifth Estate casts fresh doubt on Scouts Canada's claims about how it has dealt with those accused of preying on young boy scouts, and unearths cases not previously reported to police. The Lost Boys airs at 9 pm on CBC-TV and will be rebroadcast on CBC News Network.

Suffer the Little Children - I'm waiting to hear Steve Kent's Voice
Last week we all watched the Fifth Estate do an expose on the Boy Scouts of America and Canada.
So when is enough - enough?
When do we start protecting the children and not the perpetrators of child abuse?
How many human beings must we sacrifice for religious and social organizations while attracting and then protecting even more pedophiles?
What does it take?
The Fifth Estate reporter could not even get straight answers from the current CEO of Scouts Canada - further exasperating these worst of crimes.
Now we are going to witness victims of these horrific deeds of twisted men - hide them in order that they may speak of what happened to them.
There is absolutely no way that any victim should have to sign papers saying they will never speak if they accept a monetary settlement. Then again why would the Boy Scouts of Canada or the USA ever require victims to do this?
Why would the churches require the same thing?
Are we now so desensitized that these continued abuses of children are not worth fighting to stop?
These organizations should be charged with crimes against humanity. I am serious! What crime could be worse and how many victims would make them qualify?
Here's the deal, many leaders of organizations religious and others have been raping children for decades. The response has been to protect and hide the perpetrators - let them loose to abuse even more children, force the victims into silence, and then forget about them as they continue to attract more children and pedophiles.
Today the talk shows should be blocked with people demanding the truth - demanding that this stop and promising to stop financially and otherwise supporting organizations that allow the perpetual abuse of children.
What is wrong with us? We think we are civilized? The Prime Minister of Canada concentrates on a long-gun registry while pedophiles are being protected by the "moral" groups.
Politicians routinely lie these days and that is so successful we elect them to be Prime Ministers and Premiers.
Just think about the message we are transmitting. These corporate crooks that essentially bankrupt countries were kept on and given a raise - while people lost their jobs, homes, and families.
Right now I would like to hear MHA Steve Kent answer the questions for the Fifth Estate. As the
Chair of the Board & Chief Commissioner for that organization - I want to know where he stands on giving the public the information it wants.
Enough is enough and we have far exceeded the tolerance we should have shown. We condemn somebody for shoplifting or selling some weed. We condemn those who have incorrectly placed a fence post on our property. We condemn children who spray paint property. We condemn children who break a window or two.
Makes you wonder really - what have we become?
Suffer the Little Children
