Penashue is not only a failure he is a disgrace. I knew that he might be favourable to some decent advances for aboriginal peoples - he did not however have to sell off the rest of us to achieve that.
Between Dunderdale and Penashue our province may suffer the worst treatment by the federal government since confederation.
Both of these individuals appear extremely arrogant, ignorant, and less than patriotic. Both seem self-indulgent and full of self-importance at the expense of the people they were elected to serve.
As an MP representing Labrador there is no doubt Penashue should deliver for the people of the Big Land but as a member of the Federal Cabinet he is expected to protect the province's best interests.
As the MHA for Virginia Waters Dunderdale has committed to represent the people of that district - as the Premier she is charged with protecting this province and her people from the Canadian wolf.
The two of them together are overseeing the theft of natural resources, the reduction of services, and generally the diminishing of our province by the feds.
1. Muskrat Falls for everybody else by paid for by us.
2. The shipbuilding contract to Nova Scotia - in line with the giveaway of our power to them.
3. The loss of the marine communications sub-centre.
4. Loss of Fisheries money for science.
5. Loss of public service jobs.
6. ACOA reduction.
and as you know the list goes on.
This at a time when Quebec is compensated for upset by HST funds and more seats in the House of Commons. This at a time when Ontario is rewarded with more and more seats while our voice diminishes even more.
What a complete and utter failure these people are and it has and will continue to hurt this province.
They make a mockery of public service and democracy.
All this under the Johnny come lately media.
Not much sense to complain about Ross Reid and Len Simms now - Sue's Blog pointed this cavalier patronage out DURING the election. The media have yet to deal with Len Simms not being removed from the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing website after he resigned and throughout the campaign.
We don't stand a chance.
When listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers about events in this province, there seems to be a missing link. One that bridges all that information together and provides a way for people to contribute, express or lobby their concerns in their own time. After-all, this is our home and everyone cannot fit in Lukie's boat and paddle their way to Upper Canada, nor should we!

tell it like it is then. tell people what the strategic importance of having all that energy linked into one massive NA grid will be to the US gov't when it decides to call in all the troops and settle in to REAL homeland security behind its borders. some people are afraid to be labelled as kooks while others are afraid to speak the truth in fear of retribution, which one are you? or can you not see the reality of the US military and the current financial dealings of the corporations and how predatory they're suddenly becoming? how is it that williams got away with such blatant hypocrisy? we need to throw the gov't out like the icelanders recently did and rewrite the rules in the peoples favor.
Sue you have given us a great collection of information here on these two politicians , but what are we going to do about it?
I am sick and tired of watching every last one of our natural resources being selected for development and watching the raw resources leave this province for
the benefit of one or the other of the nine provinces.
As in the case of the 'fish resource' every province has benefitted from that wonderful pom pom resource, since it has been the enabler to sell every piece of surplus Agriculture and Manufactured product produced
in Canada to garner International Trade. IF Ottawa had not devised plan for 100% of the fish that the province of Newfoundland and Labrador jhanded over to it for maintenance, all that surplus Agriculture and MAanufactured goods would not have been produced, but Ottawa realized it had an enabler in its hands to sell any surplus goods produced and it did so, and as a result we have seen the demise of the fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We Newfoundlanders and Labradorians
had to settle for having to follow the tail of our natural resources to find work.
Here in Newfoundland and Labrador we
have lost 80,000 of our
population over the past 20 years because of the give away of our raw natural resources and now we are getting a further slap in the face by Ottawa through it increasing the Ottawa Parliament by 30 seats to satisfy the the provinces with the larger representation of population.
Newfoundland and Labrador had very little say before with 2.3% of the voting power of that house, but when those seats come into being we will have less.
Now isn't that a loving thing for the Mother Government to do after taking our resources for the benefit of itself and the
other provinces, while we had to watch our people leave in pursuit of work, the very work that was created by their own natural resources.
As a result our province lost 80,000 and the other provinces gained those jobs, which gave Ottawa the authority to increase seats?
What a dysfunctional Federation we are living in and when are we going to do something about it?
Wake up Newfoundlanders and Labradorians! Wake up Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador or else we will be all going to Mainland Canada to find ourselves in an old age home.
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians
have to demand that legislation is enacted to stop rogue politicians from giving away our natural resources.
Lonenewwolf....Sue hae has been warning us of the villians within our own borders for quite some time. We should worry about them first! We don't need an external enemy when our own politicians and business people are playing out their own naked grab for money, pwoer and influence. We are the suckers who just re-elected Dunderdale and her party by default. Over 40% didn't vote, period, and only slightly more than 30% of eligible voters actually supported the PC's, but..here they are with carte blanche to do assert their will on a disengaged and ill-informed populace. Democracy is in a crisis state in this province and in this country and it is up to us, the ordinary people to rise up and be counted.
To Anonymous I would say this...if you want to stand up and be counted, you should identify yourself publicly. You make a number of valid points but, until you and other are willing to take a chance on being ridiculed and criticized, your call to action is suspect.
I am not under any illusion that what I say will make a whole lot of difference but I am hopeful that those who disagree will engage me and other critics in thoughtful debate. We can only join the ranks of those calling for reform by taking a very public stand. I have not always been comfortable going public but, at this time, I am so fed up with the power brokers that we cannot continue to take this lying down.
Cyril, "Anonymous" is named Agnes.
