So what can we expect if Dunderdale wins this election?
Let me take you through the likely scenario. Danny Williams picked Kathy for a reason. He wanted her to complete the Emera deal and she is complying. Remember there a little while ago when Dean MacDonald's name was floated deliberately? That's right the Dean of the three amigos - Danny W - Brian T - and Dean M. Well you will note that Dean would have been expected to run interference in the Muskrat deal if he ran for the leadership of the Liberals. Now that would not do - so Dean has placed himself on the back burner until the "BAD" deal is done with Emera. Kathy would do fine for that - so the Dean thing was set up for him to become the "hero" for the Liberals after the Tories won this one.
Further - Kathy and her colleagues could be trusted to carry forth with one of the most inane Lower Churchill development deals imaginable. Not Danny's fault - he only agreed to a "term sheet". Not Dean's fault - it wasn't his party that did it. No this mess was meant for Kathy and Kathy is supposed to take the fall for it - later.
If the Tories win by a significant majority - Kevin Aylward will be pushed aside for the "Dean" and Kathy will begin to feel the daggers after about three months in office. Dean will ride in and try to make the "best" of a bad situation and explain how the Gull Island project will be different and help the mess Muskrat has caused.
Dean and Danny will not be blamed for escalating power bills and they will have to find another solution. This means the amigos will be going after the Gull Island project and try to privatize it some way or another. The excuse will be that there's no money left in the pot for government to develop Gull - therefore some private investors must do it.
Therein the millionaires become billionaires.
Kathy Dunderdale simply a pawn?
What's your take?

I always had a suspicion of Brian Tobin and Danny Williams and for Dean Mac Donald, i had an uncertainity about him too. You very well could have completed it. Just my thoughts Sue. You could be on to something real. I always admired your sincerity for the little fellow. Thank you Sue.
Gotta love set ups! I hope you are wrong, Sue, but I fear you are right. It seems quite logical, what you have there.
Pretty cute.
Have the poor Newfoundland and Labrador schmoes pay for millionaires to become billionaires. He did the Lower Churchill, next Newfoundland and Labrador's first billionaire! Ego never stops.
It's pretty bad that WE are the pawns. Nevermind Kathy. The "power" has gone to her head and look at what denying the one who put her where she is his, er our, money for his IceCaps and God knows what else she didn't do that pissed Him off.
What a place we live in. And most people here are complete dupes.
There is no animosity between Dunderdale and Williams, it is all a smoke screen they both created to pull the wool over the eyes of the electorate of Newfoundland and Labrador on the Muskrat Falls Contract. Everyone thinks the two of them are ready to cut each other's throat, that is not the case. When will the Newfoundland and Labrador Electorate ever be treated with respect and honesty by the politicians we hire? The Newfoundland and Labrador electorate are treated like they have no brains, the fact is they are so honest they put too much faith in their politicians because they think they can do no wrong and as a result they get shafted every time.
We need to take these politicians to the World Courts (not the Supreme Court of Canada - it won't be effective, they are on side) because of the economic and infrastructural mess they have created in the most resource endowed piece of real estate in the whole World. Despite our rich resources, our province presently has the second highest GDP in the whole of Canada, its workers have the lowest salary, we have the highest Unemplopyment Rate in the Whole Country, the least infrastructure, and we pay into the equalization pot to pay the salaries of the highest paid workers in Canada. More of that wealth needs to be wrestled back to our province, but we have nobody running the province who is interested in doing that because they are too focused on keeping the Loan Guarantee for the Muskrat Falls in orbit. And yes Sue, I suspect the other components of the Lower Churchill Project when developed will propel those names you mentioned into the Billionaire sphere.
The Muskrat Falls portion should only bedeveloped when the other components of the Lower Churchill are ready for development, not before.
KD, the junk food of politics? Well, there's no substance there - that's for sure... I can't believe anyone takes her seriously. less than 1% of her OWN DISTRICT knew she was their MHA.
Anyhow, this whole lower churchill hullabulloo is all about watching the birdee so you don't keep your eyes on the prize:
Old Harry (and it's $66 BILLION in royalties), which is quietly being given away to Quebec
and...
Offshore Natural Gas. Which we've burned off more of at Hibernia alone than has been "captured" from the Nova Scotian offshore.
We've burned off and blown off enough natural gas out there to power the entire continent for a fortnight of winters - so far. With more being wasted daily.
Anyhow, by the time all is said and done with Emera, we'll have lost $100 Billion in offshore revenues and a gigantic opportunity to completely revitalize all of western Newfoundland.
And that's only part of the big picture that the Dunderment is missing.
Does anyone remember the $1.4 Billions dollars that was deducted from Newfoundland and Labrador's share of the Federal Budget, the first Federal Budget that came down after the province received the $2 Billion Atlantic Accord payment? A Federal payment we waited more than 10 years to receive, while the Oil Companies and Ottawa were all the while padding their coffers.
What was that deducted for, could it have been held back to be applied against the Muskrat Falls deal? If so, then this small section of the Lower Churchill that will provide just 800 mega watts is costing the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, not $6.2Billion, but instead $7.6 Billion. I want an answer on where that money went. Premier Williams, at the time, didn't protest too much, and his chosen successor has not opened her mouth on the subject since she took over the reigns. So yes what happened to the $1.4 Billion dollars that essentially left our province with just $600 Millions dollars out of $2 Billion and nothing else in that particular Federal Budget for our province?
This subject has to be broached and we want answers. God only knows we have suffered long enough under the Canadian banner as being the economic basket case in Canada, despite our great loction and great natural resource base, which was developed solely for the other Canadian provinces and Ottawa and has added Hundreds of Billions of dollars of economies and infrastructure over the past 62years, since we have been part of Canada.
