Harper's Talking Head - Hydro's Lobbyist in Ottawa

MORE SUMMA NEWS

What's up Danny?
Timothy Powers - Vice President Communications Summa Strategies and Stephen Harper's talking head - has been hired by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro to lobby Ottawa on the Lower Churchill. (You know the guy who spars with Liberal Scott Reid on the national networks)

Yep - Timothy along with Summa Consultant Lobbyist Katie Green of Ontario are helping us out with the Lower Churchill development and the east-west power grid.

Well fine team there Dean and Danny - how does that work - Steve's talking head who defends the Prime Minister for screwing Newfoundland and Labrador on equalization - is giving us a hand with the Lower Churchill.

Then there's Katie Green from Ontario - she's gonna help us how? Let me see - convince Ottawa to build an east west power grid so that Ontario can get our power?

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is paying for this?

and if all this was not enough the two of them and Chair of Summa Doug Young have all been involved with lobbying Ottawa for the IFAW - against our seal harvest.

What a joke Premier - what else don't we know? Who is writing the Energy Plan - did Summa have any input there too?

The best part - Tim gets paid whether he's successful or not.

Summa was also doing work on the Goose Bay dossier. How is that going anyway?

Summa lobbies for the Innu Nation who want low level flights banned and for the Goose Bay who wants them continued.

Maybe I missed it but I don't recall having been made aware of this before. How is it that you can locate this information and post it and yet the local media with all its resources cannot?

This type of thing appears to reflect very poorly on the skill set of local media.

When will we ever learn? When will we learn?

Is Premier Williams going to follow in th exact footsteps of every other Premier that came before him?

It is hard to believe that another Messiah with whom we have trusted our faith is about to do the same dirty deed as everyone in the Premiership has done who preceded him.

When will we ever learn? When will we learn?

SUE -THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Who else would provide that information to us? You are a credit to your province and the sooner the ordinary mortal realizes that, the better. As far as I am concerned there are lobbyists out there who are lobbying against you, and that, in my opinion, is one of the biggest crimes and sins that will ever be perpetrated on the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and its people.

There are more RATS in the woodpiles of Newfoundland and Labrador than there are in any other province of Canada.

The fact that most of these RATS were one time politicians make their actions of lobbying to place our resources someplace else is a CRIME AGAINST HUMAN KIND. These people know full well how their province is suffering and yet they go out there and lobby our resources away so that some other jurisdiction will flourish while we flounder. These people cannot be referred to in other way than having a mentality of corruption!

The names of the people concerned need to be published. No longer can we allow the 'ME SYNDROME” of these once-elected politicians who turned lobbyists AGAINST THEIR PEOPLE rule the day. It has to stop immediately and their names need to be published. Weren't there changes made to the Lobbyist Act, so that those RATS would be exposed to us all. I remember that we had one Lobbyist in Ottawa, who once was our Premier. According to one weekly Canadian Magazine, his weekly parties were so well-loved and attended, that people were depressed if they didn't get an invite to them on a weekly basis. At the time I didn't think that he could have been lobbying away Newfoundland and Labrador's resources, since I really didn't know that somebody had that type of mentality. I really did think that all of our Newfoundland and Labrador politicians were pure and had our best interest at heart. How naive was I? I am almost positive now that the reason for this ex-Newfoundland and Labrador's politician's fame was because he was probably in Ottawa lobbying away our resources over which he lorded. I am not sure but why else would his popularity being so high amongst the industrialist set who were invited?

Thanks again Sue for confirming what I already thought to be the case.

This information needs to be brought to light for not just the blog readers, but ever single Newfoundlander and Labradorian on the face of the planet. It needs to go in all print media and on NTV and CBC. VOCM is not even getting to the bottom of it. The real important questions that Sue is asking are just not being asked by the rest. So the question is a good one Mike, where was the local media. Either told to shut up or just not competent?
Mr.Cleary, I subscribed to the Independent because of its previous well researched articles and hard hitting commentary. What has happened? Why are you offside now? Please come back onside and get to the bottom of all of this. Expose the lobbyists for what they really are.
