Simm's fair in lobbyist Coverage

Update:
I am pleased - as we all should be - that VOCM open-line lived up to it's name. Host Randy Simms let free speech flow this morning (August 9-07)- and allowed questions on real lobbyists - who we have employed. Kudo's to Randy! Maybe we will be all the more educated for it.

That is what is being practised on VOCM - when we cannot mention the name Summa Strategies Inc. as lobbyists for Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and former lobbyists for the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

This is public information. This at least can be verified. Summa lists IFAW under their Track Record section - as an organization which has benefited from their services. Further Summa and the Federal Lobbyist Registry confirms that they are employed to lobby on behalf of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.

There is no problem however letting people place innuendo on the air by hosts and others that I "may" be working for somebody therefore my public commentary is purchased. The absolute crap that was permitted on by VOCM by callers - that I am working for one political party or another over the past year. Untrue - but VOCM did not block that. Yet information available on a federal government site and listed on the companies own website is "private".

Double standard. The question is WHY?

Thanks Sue for imparting your knowledge on Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. The more we are informed of what is really going on the better it should be for all of us.

I hope each and every Newfoundlander and Labradorian take note and let their disgust be known. We have been trod on for far too long.

The more things change the more they remain the same. The establishment is still orienting matters in the direction which they want, it has been that way since the beginning of this province and it will be like it until we start the Orange Revolution to turf the scoundrels from their rat holes.

These politicians turned lobbyists have to be stopped in their tracks and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for once in its existence must be guided by honest politicians who we elect. The people who we have elected now have very corrupt minds, minds which are 'turned-on' in the lobbyist mode. We, the electorate of Newfoundland and Labrador, will have to revolt in a peaceful manner to sift out those feature creatures and put an end to that type of detrimental rule of Newfoundland and Labrador.

From my view point, I would rather have a Corporation created here and hire a CEO; I think our resources would be BETTER looked after that way. Forget about elections and electing politicians who are going to turn themselves into lobbyists and do things to benefit themselves as opposed to the province. That method needs to come to an abrupt end.

When we create that Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador, we will have to set up a body of AUDITORS to oversee that CEO to make sure that he/she won't turn out the same way that the politicians we elected turned out and that is CORRUPT! Both the CEO and the AUDITORS will have to pledge an allegiance to Newfoundland and Labrador and only Newfoundland and Labrador.
