The Host with the Most

A plug for Randy

As for Randy Simms and his hosting of open-line - I think he's perfect for the job. I enjoy his probing and questions to people that we pay to run our province. He's not absent the guts nor the desire to read - listen - learn - and contribute. He is very concientious about his work.

No doubt he is challenged by politico's for commenting one way or the other and like most of us has been accused of being a supporter of all parties. Despite that he takes the plunge. The one and only difference between Randy and some of us regulars is we are not being paid for what we do.

If Randy annoys the Premier or Leader of the Opposition - they can get cranky - they can mouth back - but they are not stopping his employment. If anybody believes that any sitting government will not get angry over challenging questions - then they are naive. The question is what do they do with that anger - and what power do they have to cause personal torment to those doing the challenging?

Keep up the great show Randy - and keep asking the questions - but consider that the "Dereks" of the world are not contributing to the public policy debate - they are personally offending and harming an individual and their family. They might provide entertainment but at what expense. If they want to play dirty - reveal themselves so that we can all assess why they are saying what they are saying. Then we have a fair playing field.

"Randy is so partisan it is a party.

He points out slanders and calls nik names to PC supporters like Tony the Tory catagorizes an entire portion of the call in audience by comparing the PC supporters to the Friends of Clinton FOC's Friends of Danny FOD's.

Uses jingoistic phrases like drink the cool aid. His allegiances are so glaringly apparent it makes me sick.

Why doesn't he catagorize or call nik names to the other partisan supporters?

I agree a good opposition is needed in a democracy but at what cost?

Maybe it isn't that the PC's are so as the options are so bad.

We have enough forces fighting against us without the added distraction and division of fighting amongst ourselves for partisan and personal gain to the detriment of the province.

Save it for the election campaign.

Considering what you said about me and my motivation - why are you surprised when others do the same? I have not done that.
Where were these people when Hydro was being stripped from us by Clyde. Please reference the stories or material where these defenders of our key resources were crying fowl when Clyde tried to sell it all out?
Remind me again - what Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro are we proudly developing now?
Where were these people?
