Union Representing Former Paperworkers in Stephenville

have a great site with plenty of information - history and current commentary on the Stephenville fiasco. Perhaps Minister Joan Burke and other MHA's should spend some quality time doing some research of their own.
The people of Stephenville and the Port au Port Peninsula deserve better. There are opportunities to replace Abitibi with a new industrial customer - but then Danny might have to answer some pretty tough energy questions. Maybe not - if they keep their plans secret for rural Newfoundland and Labrador such as the closure of many fishing communities and associated industry and business - there might be some power for the old mill.
With a world class potential at the airport - strategic location - the port - infrastructure - Stephenville should be the hub of industrial expansion over the next 10 years.
Take the time to visit the new website and take in some interesting information.

Hello all former employees of Abitibi. We must get on the backs of our MHA's. Go to our website and see the direct quotes of meeting with Management and Goverment. You form your own opinion on the way IT went down.
But remember right now there are interested parties in the mill so don't let some councilors push you around. remember U voted them in. Well not me I lost almost all my votes and proud to say. Some of them want save the buildings for some fly-by-night operation. I say yhe heck with that let's give this broker a chance to do his thing. It would be a sin to tear out a viable efficient paper machine. JMHO

I'd like to hear Danny Williams comments on the 9,000 people who attended the job fair in SJ the weekend; if there are 9,000 lined up to go, how many have we already lost. Guess we'll be seeing more seminars on the healthy aging population of NL; cause that's all we'll have left, even if those people eventually come back, it will only be to retire.....Maybe he'll have another Plan B to entice workers back here. By the way, why is Stephenville never in the news, it's about time Danny blew back into town with a glory story again, maybe this time one for real....someone should take a tally of the people we've lost to out-migration, he's very quiet on the subject of Stephenville, wonder why?

With the consultants having up to four potential buyer/operators and the recent announcement by a India
company interested in purchasing the mill, I still do not hold much
hope in the goverment expropriating the facility. When the announcement was made by
Abitibi last year of their intent
to close #7 and continue to run two operations on the island, MHA Anna Thistle got in the ring put on the gloves and fought. With MHA
Joan Burke working her corner between rounds Stephenville never had a chance. Right now having a non supportive Minister, a hibernating
MHA and a Mayor, who in my opnion has been in Gord Olfords ass pocket
from day one...all is loss..Amen
