A Stephen Harper majority meant we were going to lose Canada - as we know it.
Here we go - corporate and market guzzlers, and elite - have Harper's only ear.
OAS - Health Tinkering - Dictatorial policies of the Federal Government, downloading to Provinces, and other important social programs under attack.
Harper is a liar - and he will lie to get where he needs to get - then he will place Canadians second and Corporations first.
Although politicians are supposed to work for us - Harper's view is if he works for Corporations then Canadians will get the benefits.
Also it is amazing to watch Helicopter MacKay present as a lifelong agent of the Reform Party.
Corporations do not require the undivided attention of the politicians we elect - but hey if they can get it - they will take it.
Last night on the CBC they played a clip of Harper in earlier years talking about OAS and how he would not do - exactly what the media and Opposition parties are saying he's planning to do now.
Human rights? Torture during interrogation? Will Harper oppose?
No - human rights fall behind the importance of Harper trade deals - and Torture is acceptable if if if - that's up to Harper.
Pitting one province against another - pitting one region against another - Harper's specialty.
The social fabric is being removed from Canadian Clothing - question is what will we do about it?
The other question is for all parents of children. If Stephen Harper can rise to the top job in our society - in large part by lying - what does that teach your children?
When listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers about events in this province, there seems to be a missing link. One that bridges all that information together and provides a way for people to contribute, express or lobby their concerns in their own time. After-all, this is our home and everyone cannot fit in Lukie's boat and paddle their way to Upper Canada, nor should we!

Dunderdale Won't Open House if Elected! She's already lied by Omission!
I did not see that in the Blue Book did you?
No sooner than she thinks the election is in the bag - she begins the process of diminishing our democracy.
Dunderdale has said - reported by NTV - no need to open the House of Assembly in the fall - let's wait till the spring for the budget. What utter crap and arrogance.
Here we are with Muskrat on the table and Dunderdale believes no need to open the Peoples House.
Why did Dunderdale only reveal this today? Why didn't she say this throughout the campaign?
This is a lie to the people. A lie by omission. A very big lie and could be a very damaging one.
Elect MHA's to represent you in the House of Assembly - and I Dunderdale will not open it.

Rex Murphy ponders the Riots in Vancouver - I say expect More under Harper
Rex Murphy had his say on the Vancouver Riot. Please Click HERE
After listening to Rex - here's the only reply I have.
It was absolutely awful - you reap what you sow - remember this is exactly how the government acted at the G8 G20. If Rex replaced the pictures with that event - we could review how ordinary citizens holding a peaceful and legal protest were treated like they were in a third world dictatorship. People rebel against such government tyranny.
Is this an excuse? No! Should we expect it? Probably. Stephen Harper will strip all pride from the people of this country and people without pride do awful things.
When the Prime Minister is in contempt - what should we expect of citizens?
When the Prime Minister lies - what should we expect of citizens?
When the Prime Minister ignores the law - what should we expect of citizens?
When the Prime Minister travels to Boston on our dime - in our jet to watch a hockey game while his Minister of Finance is delivering news of massive program cuts - what should we expect of citizens?
Take a long look at Vancouver - Canada - this is just the tip of the right-wing fanatic revolution.

What a Tragic Day for Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and Democracy
Where do I start?
There is no doubt that Stephen Harper is a liar. There is also no doubt that he is a right wing fundamentalist. He also heads up a party that ignores election laws and rewards people who lie - with a Cabinet post.
The real problem and concern is that he is also very shrewd - he will use his intelligence not for the common good but for his own advancement and that of his secret corporate buddies.
Today as Newfoundland and Labrador witnesses the appointment of Peter Penashue to Cabinet - we should be celebrating this historic move - instead we have to ponder how cynical this actually is.
Without questioning at all the sincerity of Mr. Penashue - I absolutely am sickened by what this means for our future. I am able to hypothesize why Harper has made the move - but I am yet unable to determine if Penashue will fall for it.
Peter Penashue is now the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs - and as such may be the individual that delivers the loan guarantee for the Lower Churchill development to the province. As an Innu leader - Harper can claim that he not only gave our government what it wanted but it was done through an aboriginal person. This development - possibly the largest giveaway in our history - should be stopped not financed. Harper for his part will use Penashue to deliver cheap - green - reliable power to other provinces of importance to him. This is great news for Nova Scotia, Ontario, and perhaps other Maritime provinces or New England States - but it is devastating to us. What a clever lad our Prime Minister is - how deceptive, vindictive, and sarcastic he is.
Meanwhile back at the ranch - that Stephen Harper's surreptitious mind lives on - he has once again appointed Fabian Manning to the Senate joined by other failed Conservative candidates. Another absolute slap in the face to the people of our province who chose again NOT to elect him. Remember Harper - promising to deliver an elected Senate? Not only has he continued to renege on this - he appoints people the people have said no to.
Then the kicker - Harper finished his News Conference on the Cabinet appointments - then passes on the information on the Senate appointments and does not stick around to answer questions about it. John Baird the newly minted Minister of Foreign Affairs - also refused questions on this absolute contempt of the Canadian people.
For political desert - if your stomach is not already upset - Bev Oda returns to Cabinet!
For the 22% of the voting public that elected this mess - well done. For the over 70% who did not - shame on those who did not vote and the remainder of us should simply work very hard to make sure the next four years does not destroy our country and ensure this type of administration is never elected again.
Cheers to Peter MacKay - your sly and manipulative manner has surely paid off.

Why Chantal Hebert said of Harper "many voters...be wary of....promises..."
From the CBC
Members of the Nova Scotia legislature voted unanimously Thursday in favor of a resolution condemning Stephen Harper, the leader of the Canadian Alliance.
The resolution was in response to Harper's comments that there is a "defeatist attitude" in Atlantic Canada.
From the National Post
Williams, who has launched an “Anything-but-Conservative” campaign to defeat Harper’s MPs, warned Canadians of “dire consequences” if they give the Conservative leader a majority government.
“I beg you and plead with you today to stop and think and decide if that is what this country deserves,” Williams told a group of business leaders in a televised address in St. John’s, N.L. “If you believe this country deserves better, then you know what to do — it’s as easy as ABC.”

Harper promised compensation 'in error,' minister says
Prentice now says his party made a mistake and didn't have all the facts when it made the original commitment. That means the court-approved settlement deal that would pay some 80,000 former residential school students an average of about $25,000 each won't apply.
From The Star and Chantal Hebert
How much is Stephen Harper's word worth? In the wake of the Prime Minister's stunning reversal on income trusts this week, many voters will understandably be wary of taking anything he promises at face value in the future. After all, it is the second time in less than a year that Harper broke his word in a spectacular fashion.

Members of the Nova Scotia legislature voted unanimously Thursday in favor of a resolution condemning Stephen Harper, the leader of the Canadian Alliance.
The resolution was in response to Harper's comments that there is a "defeatist attitude" in Atlantic Canada.
"There is a dependence in the region that breeds a culture of defeatism," the Opposition leader said Wednesday following question period in the House.

The Liar and the Traitor - toxic combination for Newfoundland and Labrador
![]() |
| The Liar and the Traitor |
Before I proceed with a short commentary - I would like to take a couple of sentences written by Ms. Taber in the article as I believe it demonstrates the disinterest the upper Canadian media has in - critical issues - for Newfoundland and Labrador and her people.
Mr. Manning, who had only served one term, from 2006 to 2008, was, in part, a victim of former premier Danny Williams's “Any But Conservative” campaign. He was angry with Stephen Harper over equalization issues.
As you can see Ms. Taber first makes Manning a victim of Danny Williams and secondly describes Williams as angry with Harper over equalization issues. In the first instance Manning is a victim of his own choices which absolutely went against the will of the people he supposedly represented and sought to represent again. In the second instance Williams was not "angry" over "equalization issues" - rather he was angry - as were the majority of people in our province - over the FACT that the Prime Minister LIED - he LIED directly to the Premier - he LIED directly one on one to me and he LIED to ALL Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
The lie was costly - about 10 billion dollars worth - and it will affect many generations of our people. It means the value of our natural non-renewable resources has been diminished to immediate economic benefit versus long-term invested benefit and immediate return. That is the problem with non-renewables - and that is what Harper promised to fix. He promised it as an economist, as a matter of principle, as a matter of good Canadian policy - but in the end he just lied.
If the two gentlemen above are elected again expect the same result for our province. If Fabian gets elected and Harper wins a minority - we can expect both to find ways to diminish our lot to improve the lot of others in Quebec and Ontario. If he wins a majority - there will be nothing left.
