After listening and reading ALL the information provided to the public by Government on the Muskrat Falls proposed development - I can only conclude that this deal is the beginning of the process to privatize our company and energy assets.
First the government has admitted in Emera - a Nova Scotian publicly traded company into an ownership position. (temporary or otherwise)
Danny Williams did not "go it alone" as he suggested we would.
Second - the cost to the ratepayers of this development is prohibitive (even at the current estimates) and could be catastrophic if the overruns reach 50%.
Third - We will be sold a bill of goods saying that if the private sector takes it - they might be able to transmit and distribute power more efficiently.
That then clears the way for a fully private development (giveaway) of Gull Island.
Sorry - but from where I sit - nothing else makes sense.
Williams did not oppose the privatization attempt by Clyde Wells - round two?
