Talk with Sue Second Show - Electoral Reform - the Sleeping Democracy - Dunderdale's arrogance!

Join us tonight at 8 pm - Talk with Sue - Second Show deals with electoral reform.

Does the Dunderdale government respect the electorate?

42% of people did not vote. Why?

The House of Assembly -why isn't it open?

Why type of electoral system would you like to see?

Why type of electoral reform would wake up our sleeping democracy?

What happened during the election - lets talk about polls, threats, and Ross Reid and Len Simms - their scandalous reappointment's.

I expect Shannon will join me for this discussion.

We have 4 years (I think) - let's do something to get it right.

Let's raise the percentage of those voting to 75!

Sue, getting 75% of the electorate out to vote would be good but I would like to see it at a minimum of 80%, for starters.

I still want to see each sitting member elected with an absolute majority in his or her district. This would require a change in the voting process. Many politicians don't want it but the House should exist for OUR benefit and not theirs. They ought to be stewards of democracy rather than obstacles!

Another condition I would like to see is that no memeber run for more than 2 consecutive terms. Now that we have a fixed 4-year election date, their shelf life would be limited to 8 years. I would have no issue with a member coming back for another try after a hiatus of 4 years.

Good luck with your program tonight. I will catch up on the higlights later on.

Term limits are a stupid idea. It would give politicians in their final term every excuse to ignore the voters, just as "lame duck" US presidents or governors do.

anonymous - your tone is ignorant - there are many good reasons for term limits.
What we do know that what we are doing does not work for people - it works for politicians.
