The story today is that Kathy Dunderdale is "unavailable" to attend the rally being held to fight the closure of the marine rescue sub-centre - this due to "family commitments".
This is a fundamental stand of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador against the stated action of the Government of Canada. This is not optional! The people of this province want to fight - and the Premier must stand with them.
You can speak to an oil conference, other Premiers, and the Prime Minister - you Premier should be present at this event.
Here's the real problem and we need some answers. Let's say that we accept that this family commitment is of such urgency or importance that our Premier must say no to a matter of dire concern to the province - then why did the Premier not offer optional dates to the committee?
Why did the Premier shut her mouth and give no direction to the people of the province? Why didn't the Premier organize a provincial rally and ask other groups to support the government in the direction? Why did the Premier only comment after an ad hoc organization announced the date of the rally? How long did the Premier want to wait?
Once again Kathy Dunderdale is not showing leadership capabilities. Dunderdale is not showing enough competence to be an interim leader let alone a Premier.
Kathy Dunderdale - is obsessed with the completion of the Emera/Muskrat giveaway and that type of zealotry should make us all - very afraid.
When listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers about events in this province, there seems to be a missing link. One that bridges all that information together and provides a way for people to contribute, express or lobby their concerns in their own time. After-all, this is our home and everyone cannot fit in Lukie's boat and paddle their way to Upper Canada, nor should we!

I came upon this blog by accident few weeks back. I often wondered about people and what made them tick, you have me baffled. The Premier must be doing something right she will soon have her 48 candidates in place come October. Your comments about this woman leaves much to be desired especially her name.
What baffles you? What makes you tick? Your comment no doubt comes after a comprehensive review on policies affecting this province - particularly resource developments.
I have been public on these issues for ovcer 20 years and the PC's were fine with my critique until they became government.
As for the Premier's name - I did not give her that.
Perhaps when you are surfing you might find some historical pieces on developments in this province and also come across a time when the PC's fought side by side with me during the attempt to privatize hydro, the parks, and other issues.
What astonishes me in all of this, Sue, is that Newfoundlanders are still rather lukewarm about calling out the Premier on her treatment of this issue. Dangling jobs for all on the end of a very long stick, Kathy Dunderdale, like Williams before her, has hushed the populace into a corner. She can get away with thumbing her nose at seafarers who depend on the marine rescue centre because Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are desperate for industry and development. This, out of all of it, just sticks in my craw. It is an abuse of power, perhaps. And it is insulting. One thing I have to say about Danny Williams is that if he were at the helm right now, he would likely tell his family commitment to stuff it in order to attend a rally like the one in St. John`s today. Kathy Dunderdale is not a leader. She is a political suck who thinks she will go down in history as the Muskrat Falls hero. She ought to open her history books and look at the hero of the Churchill Falls deal, Joey Smallwood. We`re still grinding out teeth over that one.
