Identify This Fish

In order to get my vote - you must find this fish in harvest numbers - to the value of 1 Billion Dollars.

Print this and pass it to all people looking for your vote in both the upcoming federal and provincial elections.

Let me be the first to sign on and say in order for any future NL politician running for MHA or MP election, to get my vote they must show they will pass this 'Cod Test'.

Further, once they are in office they must make the protection, from all sources, and return of NL's Cod (and ground fish) a top priority in their duties.

Sue, Dr. Phil Earle has made a great suggestion. I wonder how it is it possible to get through to all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians that an action such as this has to be taken?

They have to get through to our politicians that if they don't take on their duty of rectifying the wrongs that have been committed on our fish resource by Ottawa, we don't want them to be our representatives either in a Provincial or Federal Government role.

Much talking has been done on the Radio Talk Shows and it doesn't seem to register with Newfoundlanders and Labradorians that their 'fish' resource is the greatest resource they have in their resource larder, it is a renewable resource, which can serve them until eternity with the right stewardship, but somehow it isn't registering with them. It has to be taken out of Ottawa's hands because they have run it into oblivion through trading this wonderful resource off to garner international trade for the surplus agriculture and manufactured products produced in the rest of Canada. The rest of Canada has been served well with our fish resource and they don't even speak up against the abuse inflicted on that very important resource.

We must inform this new batch of potential and encumbent politicians that the status quo must go, and they have to fight vigorously for the rebuilding of our fish resource in the future. Past politicians have been let off the hook in the past with regard to being good stewards of that resource and they have not opened their mouths to utter a word in defence of it. Shame on them!
