I know he made one thing clear - they are the government and they will decide the fate of Lower Churchill Power - not the people - no debate.
He did not answer the big question - why export power?

As for Grenfell - my question was for the students. What would they prefer money be spent on?
Then there was the irony of Brent Quilty's campaigner - wondering why Sue does not SEEM to support Grenfell. Number one - my point was - what do the students want. Second as for money on the East Coast versus elsewhere - I am stronger than Wiliiams and Jackman on that one.

Back to Clyde - he's a little upset that I pointed out his clothesline in Toronto and pitcherless mints on a stick logo has netted 500,000 tourists - while Anne of Green Gables keeps knocking the daylights out of our industry - PEI with 750,000 to 1,000,000 tourists a year.
Then there was the annoyance of having to hear the employment numbers.

We are vacationing at home this year because the cost of travelling off the island is keeping us home. Nothing to do with the advertising. The fuel expense getting to the ferry and the cost of the ferry ride for a family of 4 with trailer...times 2! It's like living on Alcatraz...no escaping here. Jackman gave us an update on openline this morning regarding the Lint Picking Festival. It was so successful that they ran out of turkeys! What rubbish.....

The point I picked up on was Clyde's announcement that he does not intend to tangle with the "gravel-pit" denizens, at least not now with an election pending in which they have expectations of getting every vote that will be cast. This is not good news for those of us who are infuriated by the fact that beautiful Lance Cove , Bell Island, has been turned into a quintessential gravel-pit: a real hillbilly haven.
Just about ever accessible inch of the seashore is occupied by squatters who park ramshackle campers and leave them there for the duration of the season. Besides being extremely unsightly , there is the problem of sanitation and weekend noise, just to mention a couple of issues.

Take the ferry to Labrador. It's cheaper, and you still get to "travel off the island".
Re; Lower Churchill - Williams said several times regarding the power that they would 'consult with Labradorians' and that there would be no development unless Labradorians were the 'prime beneficiaries'. 'Twould be a bit of a stretch to say that Labradorians have been consulted, for sure. He also said that it would depend on 'what the ask' is from Labradorians. I really don't think that Labradorians 'ask' matters diddley squat.
For donny, sure, why not take the advice of WJM and see some of the biggest part of the province. Maybe then you, and others, would see things first hand (regarding our infrastructure deficit, here) and come onside and help pressure 'the Province' to concentrate a little more on alleviating that deficit. I can't believe they ran out of turkeys, I'm sure some of them will be looking for re-election! (sorry, couldn't help myself).
Mr. Rees, I'm sure I can agree with you (never been there, though), but hopefully something can be done about such things without having some kind of idiotic law restricting campers to specific areas only - I have no problem with good standards but it sure would be a shame if government tried to restrict us all to specific places. Solutions shouldn't be hard, but I wouldn't look for this bunch to make any changes that could lose them a few votes at election time. Maybe after?
