So the Council of the Federation is getting an Energy Plan

Williams - why not come out and speak the truth...

Now we will probably see an energy plan for Canada by the Council of the Federation (premiers) before we see one for Newfoundland and Labrador. Tell me Premier - will that plan direct you on how our energy is to be used for Canada? Yup that's just perfect. You will fight to keep the benefits of the Atlantic Accord - Additional Agreement - and give them back by exporting our power to Central Canada.

Frankly I'm sick of watching our media rush to the Premier's side every time he wishes to talk about the Lower Churchill project - yet do not have enough knowledge to ask the tough questions. This does not help us.

The Opposition (liberals) never did have a clue as it relates to an energy plan - and they relied on Dean MacDonald and Bill Wells to show them the way.

Well done guys - that really took you places.

My biggest concern remains for our province and her youth - we really cannot afford to be ignorant this time. Think back - which of the "best minds" - the Premier refers to - were front and center in the fight against the privatization of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro? Where are they in Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro management? Where are they on the Premier's advisory board?

You see this super company was on the block just over a decade ago - the wisdom of these people was to sell this company and the people could buy it back by owning shares. Oh yes - we would also be paying about 50% more for our electricity right now so that the pension fund of Ontario's government employees could make some money.

It took vision to see that this company had to stay with the people and for the people - long before Danny had an epiphany that we should not giveaway resources. I don't remember Ed Martin fighting day and night to save the company - do you? Do you remember Dean MacDonald or Danny Williams shouting to the top of their lungs - stop the privatization of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. My gosh it would have only taken 20 or 30 hours a week for a couple of years of their time to fight for the company they hold up now as a shining example.

You see while Danny was making 200 million for himself there were a number of people who worked as hard and were as successful at making hundreds of millions of dollars - the only difference was it was putting it in the peoples' pocket.

Be very cautious with your allegiance - do you really know who you are dealing with? That 2 billion on the oil pales in comparison with the value of NLH over the past 15 years and for the next 20.

When you are looking for public leadership - does it come from somebody who is personally wealthy - or does it come from those who have worked for societal wealth? Who will fight for you - is a very good question - and you should take your time and come up with the answer. There would be much less disappointment and much more success for the Province.

I do not see much more from the Official Opposition - they were the ones who put us through the whole charade.

Premier - whatever you are doing - why not just stop it - and do the right thing. You know that negotiating the sale of power from the Lower Churchill follows the development of an energy plan not before.

Next time you get a power bill multiply it by 1.5 - and remember the people both government and "business" who had "hands in your pocket".
