Hydro Quebec - Pioneering 101

I wonder where that energy plan is? That road to Danny's Da/mask/ask - where the brilliance of the those the Premier has mentored - will light Hydro Place without a bulb turned on.

Hydro Quebec Junior (NLH) is having a hard time following dad's or mom's path. Too complicated - too much thinking and planning - to serious - Junior wants to have a bit of fun.

Another lesson to be learned by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro or more importantly by the Premier is that Hydro Quebec is serious. They use the company to deliver what are normally seen as government programs - lower their profit and increase equalization for the Province of Quebec.

Sue's Blog would like to introduce you to the latest project. As this development proceeds - the future of Quebec expertise and employment is assured through the ingenuity of the people - business - Hydro Quebec - and politicians of all stripes.

This state of the art hotel is designed to be energy cheap and chic. Hydro Quebec's role is to subsidize the energy system and to provide land to the developer.

Quebec City-based Groupe Germain is building the first hotel in Canada to feature geothermal heating and cooling systems. The $21 million 14-storey, 105,000-square-foot tower is located at the southern end of Brossard’s brand new Quartier DIX30, a multi-million dollar lifestyle centre in the south shore municipality of Brossard off the Island of Montreal.

Once this one is up in September - do you think Quebec will have established itself once again as a leader in "green" - and no doubt the employment that follows with experienced developers and skilled tradespeople will be significant.

Vision is our future - hindsight is our death.

Unless we take a different approach - the closest we will get to this type of project is the Premier booking a room in the hotel when in Quebec for a meeting.
