Want to Play a Game?

Sue's Blog has a site meter - it looks like the image below.

Find the site meter on the left hand side of the page just below the blog roll.

Press it and a page will appear talking about site statistics. It does however tell you more - on the left hand side of this page you will see the word details - press on it.

This page shows you where the reader originates from - technically speaking. Several times on most days you will see the number 199.246.158.# instead of something like Aliant or GC.ca or Nf.net etc. When this number appears press on the number in the box next to it.

This brings you to a page - which in this case belongs to Fraser and Beatty a very large national law firm. Every time this blog talks about Dean MacDonald, Danny Williams, and/or Brian Tobin this law firm checks in.

I want to know - who in this law firm is so interested in this blog and why - and if this is a professional monitoring who's paying for it? Are these fees billed to the taxpayer in any way?

Now although Fraser Beatty still hangs on to the name for their server - the firm is now known as Fraser Milner Casgrain and has offices throughout Canada and New York.

What's really interesting is that:

Former Premier and Federal Cabinet Minister will provide strategic advice to key FMC clients

TORONTO, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - David Fuller, Chief Executive Officer of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), today announced that the Honourable Brian Tobin is joining the firm as a Senior Business Advisor effective October 1.

"We are delighted to welcome Brian back as a Senior Business Advisor," says Mr. Fuller. "His wealth of experience in the public service and private sectors will once again contribute to distinguishing FMC as one of Canada's leading corporate law firms. Brian will provide strategic counsel to the firm and help our clients capitalize on opportunities."

Mr. Tobin was a Senior Advisor to FMC on public/private partnerships and emerging business trends from May 2002 to March 2004. Mr. Tobin is returning to FMC after having recently served as CEO of MI Developments Inc.

"Brian will play an important role as advisor to the firm's key business areas," says Jeff Barnes, Chair of the firm. "As an experienced legislator, Premier, Federal Cabinet Minister and corporate executive, Brian brings a valuable perspective to our firm and his contribution will impact a wide range of businesses. We will benefit from his ability to provide strategic advice drawn from his extensive experience in business and government."

"FMC is one of Canada's great national firms, active in both business and government from coast to coast," says Tobin. "I am very pleased to be returning to the firm and renewing our relationship. I also look forward to adding my perspective and helping with matters that are important to the firm and its key clients".

Mr. Tobin served as federal Minister of Industry from 2000 to 2002 and during his tenure in this position was a tireless proponent of Canadian business and the development of Canada's innovation performance. Prior to this, he served as the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador from 1996 to 2000.

From 1993 to 1996 Mr. Tobin was the federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, having first been elected to the House of Commons in 1980. He is Director of Lions Gate Films, Persona Cable and ACE Security Laminates. Mr. Tobin was also part of the first graduating class on Corporate Governance conducted by the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Business and Canada's Institute of Corporate Governance.

So boys what's up? How deep does it go? And when will you tell us exactly what you want?

Sue

I have checked the site meter on your blog on a daily basis and the locations from which your blog is accessed are intriguing to me . I often wonder the reason for which these people routinely check into what you are writing and how it fits into their planning.

It is almost like you have aliens checking into the business affairs of Newfoundland and Labrador. Although I know that is not the case, I figure it has more to do with the way Ottawa has everything structured in Canada. I truly believe in my heart that things are not supposed to happen in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador to bring the people of this province employment and prosperity. The resources of Newfoundland and Labrador have been eyed by every part of the nation of Canada, the resources are not supposed to benefit this province at all.

The combination of names you have printed in your blog does not give me any comfort, they scare me half to death. My first question is what are these people up to and, what are they plotting against the people of Newfoundland and Labrador to benefit the rest of Canada?

The only form of solace I get from this Sue is that you are keeping us informed that these people are spying on us and that we have to be careful. Maybe with your effort through this blog, we will find out what it is they are up to and their interest in what is happening here. One thing for sure they are not looking out for the interests of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is most likely they are trying to channel the Lower Churchill hydroelectric energy into Ontario to keep industry going there. I hope that is not the case. That energy should never move out of this province, it should be kept solely to create business in Labrador. How are we ever going to move forward with creating industry if we give away the resource that is needed to create it? It is time that we woke up.

It also frightens me to know that Tobin has been appointed to the Fraser Institute. That Think Tank has always kept Newfoundland and Labrador out of the loop, despite the fact this province has numerous resources which should have made us rich. We will have to keep our eyes on that Institution and what it is cooking up for us. It is no excuse for us to prove ignorant now that we know what they are all about.

On second thought it is a good thing that your site meter shows you have people from governments and corporations accessing your site who should be well warned that we are quite aware of what has gone on in the past with our resources that have been developed and that we now will continue to be quite aware in the future.

We will, from this day forward, not glorify our politicians and put them on pedestals. We know the pressures on them to give those resources away to other areas for their advancements, while filling their own pockets, and leaving the rest of the inhabitants of Newfoundland and Labrador destitute. We are not going to allow that to happen ever.

We have to keep an eye on those two Think Tanks, one on the East Coast of Canada and the other on the West Coast of Canada, both of which are Newfoundland and Labrador's nemesis. And to think we have people from Newfoundland and Labrador employed with them who will work against his/her province sickens me.
