What happened to RFP's?

Rogers and Persona (Dean and Danny) and Request for Proposals

You see Sue's Blog believes having a redundant communications line is needed to protect the people of the Province from Aliant's little accident.
There are however ways to get it without giving your business buddies 15 million in taxpayers dollars to do it.
If the Province is willing to finance or invest that much money for a line - why not put out a Request for Proposals and see what communications consortiums - partnerships - or single entity corporations are interested in it?
Why not open it to competition for our 15 million dollars?
Let's see what services we can get for that - maybe a sweet deal on cell service.
This blatant hand-out is not the way to do business on behalf of the taxpayers. I am surprised the Board of Trade has not said a word - where are they?
What does this mean for Aliant - will they require a subsidy from government next time they do equipment upgrade?
The government is helping to finance a competitor.
The Dean and Danny show with connections both past and current to two of the partners in this deal - just stinks.
