Give Stephenville a chance Minister Burke...

by using our energy corporation to entice and keep industry.
Noranda reported third quarter results and increased performance yesterday - despite a higher Canadian dollar - higher production costs - and decreased sales.

The Positive?

Give Stephenville a chance!

"The Fund is participating in Hydro-Québec's "Industrial Initiatives
Program - Major Customers" program. During the third quarter, the Fund
received $0.5 million (year-to-date - $1.8 million) in the form of incentives.
The incentives have been recorded as a reduction of property, plant and
equipment as they relate to capital expenditures incurred to reduce
electricity consumption."

See News Release

Sometimes it takes a bit of creativity to make things work - using our energy
company to our industrial advantage will work. Not only do they encourage
industry to stay - they encourage them to invest in energy consumption reduction
and this helps everybody.

Can Danny do anything right?

I challenge you to point out one thing Premier Williams has done right.

The way I look at this is that it is an investment in developing a climate for business to want to move to NL and invest capital here.

Your negativity is making you lose credibility.

I am not a monkey - I do not clap on demand. I reason using the facts. It is good the Premier gained significant benefits on our offshore revenues - unfortunately he forgot the clause that protects them from changes to equalization.
The comments you post were identical to the comments I recieved when I challenged Tobin and Wells.
Actually lately I've been noticing on the open-lines that those that are now cheerleading the Premier's existance are the same people who knelt at the sight of Tobin and Wells.
With respect to the deal - it is simply in conflict - if the boys want to access govt. funds stay out of government boards and backrooms.
That's simple enough.

I have to agree with this person's comment. I have always seen you as a questioner for all issues in NL which is good - we shouldn't just take what our govt or opposition says at face value. But your blog seems overly one sided and bashing to the PC govt and Danny in particular. And becuse of that you are losing credibility in my eyes. You probably don't care and that's fine. But to me it's like this blog is a media lead up to you running for the liberals in the next election. So everything you say here I take with a grain of salt so to speak. I don't doubt for a minute that you deal in facts but even facts can be presented in a way that skews the story the way the writer wants.

All these comments are anonymous - you know who I am - you make a judgement - I have no idea who you are so I cannot tell if your comments are politically motivated. As for - it sounds like I'm going to run for the Liberals - I've heard that every year for 15 years - since I began public commentary. Both parties have accused me of wanting to run for the other.
Give me the particular issue you have problem with and we can discuss it. If I don't smarten up I guess you will have to stop paying me for my work.
