For Labrador - the takeover of INCO by Brazilian CVRD should be very good. Sue's Blog has mentioned several times that CVRD is the largest iron ore company in the world and that should bode well for the northern land.
Once again the prospects look good as CVRD does a big deal in China for iron ore.
Read the details.

As in all things, the fullness of time will reveal whether CVRD will be good for Labrador - or not, or whether it will be as good as it could be.
I won't question either, whether the author, or some others, genuinely have 'what is good for Labrador' at heart. When provincial politicians talk about what is good for Labrador, some of us have developed a sort of automatic 'cringe' response.
I do believe that SO FAR 'what is good for Labrador' has not been the main concern of any development in Labrador. Was the sell out of Churchill Falls good for Labrador? At the time I believe IT was the biggest Hydro development in the world? Was the development of the mines in LabWest done with the good of Labrador in mind? Was the hundreds of years of fish removal from Labrador for the good of Labrador? Was Canadian Javelin/Labrador Linerboard good for Labrador, or removal of wood for Kruger or ABitibi? Or was it better for Stephenville/CornerBrook? Is Voisey's Bay Nickel good for Labrador? Or better for the long run in Long Harbour? Right now it's better for Thompson and Sudbury. If it was about Labrador wouldn't there be more refining here where we might even get to use some Hydro? What might be good for Labrador would be to process more of those resources HERE IN LABRADOR. Maybe what would be good for Labrador is if 'the Province' ante'ed (odd word) up funding for the TLH instead of waiting for Ottawa to continue its near 100% funding as it has done so far. If it weren't for Ottawa there would be no TLH, there would be no coastal airstrips, there would be no dock facilities and on and on. Maybe if 'the Province' developed some of those resources HERE in Labrador, hundreds, maybe thousands of people could grow the population HERE instead of Alberta, maybe tax dollars (instead of just resource royalties) would go to 'the Province's' coffers instead of Alberta's. Maybe those tax dollars would pay for infrastructure HERE instead of elsewhere - then Labrador's infrastructure deficit could be addressed by funds from 'the province' instead of Ottawa.
Maybe, too, if the Premier of this Province kept the promises he made prior to, during, and immediately following, the last election - that would be good for Labrador? We could ask the Metis, or the South Labrador people (ask them about the ferry and the Dan promise) about those issues. Maybe.
Maybe another thing that would be good for Labrador is to ask, AND TO LISTEN to Labradorians, to what would be 'good for Labrador.' Maybe, you know, if it were looked at in a certain way, what is good for Labrador could not fail to be good for 'the Province' Thanks.
