From Postville Labrador comes this poem - from the heart... by Ruth Jacque
The Heart of Labrador
Is it the rugged landscape
Of the land God gave to Cain
That is the Heart of Labrador
The wild no man can tame
Is it the mighty ocean
With its waves that crash the shore
Or are the ancient mountains
at the Heart of Labrador
What drives the pulsing life-force
That courses through its veins?
Is it the shimmering Northern Lights
Or pristine snowy plains?
These merely paint a background
Of rare and priceless art
But these are not the essence
Of Labrador's true heart ---
For surely its her people
Their history and more
That constitutes what must be called
The Heart of Labrador
Endless parade of life and death
Each person plays a role
The inhabitants of Labrador
Are what makes up her soul
Destiny carved out of stone
Each person plays a part
The inhabitants of Labrador
Are what makes up her heart!
