Putting the whole deal in perspective the feds - who are responsible for the outmigration 40-50 thousand Newfoundlanders and Labradorians - actually felt comfortable enough to show up at this conference with a 10.5 million investment of an aquaculture initiative valued at over 155 million dollars. The Province invested 10 million in an attempt to escape the "rural ruin" label they were fast acquiring.
But these guys have guts - no we don't have guts - I can see Cooke getting accolades for the substantial investment - but these worms "politicians" that snaked their way into the glory - was nothing short of shameful.
Loyola - Super Minister Strahal is billions ahead for the farmers...
Tom - You were damn lucky somebody came to your rescue - as you were flopping like a landed caplin...
And then the topper on the cake...
The two lads Loyola and Tom actually admitted to a reporter that the announcement was politically timed! Do you have any shame?
We are about to enter one of the most critical periods of the last 500 years - the restructuring (destruction) of our fishery - and the boys did not want to meet people without a bag of promises - especially on the south coast.
Then they decide to ban the media and public - while telling a reporter from the Canadian Press that the timing was political?
Below are the quotes by our representatives in the CP Story

Federal Fisheries Minister Loyola Hearn said next week's consultations weren't on his mind when he unveiled the new project, but conceded the announcement was politically timed.
"It probably is," Hearn said as Newfoundland Fisheries Minister Tom Rideout chimed in, "Make no apologies for it."
