Buongiorno - oops I meant good morning
The people of St. Lawrence and the Province woke this morning with an unusual smell in the air. Take a deep breath because Danny Williams is attempting to suck it right out of your lungs
The smell is - Italian - the government of that country and therefore its people will now make profit from the wind that blows over Newfoundland and Labrador.
Don't get me wrong - I am a proponent of wind energy - as is obvious from my years of promoting renewable clean energy - but I'm not a proponent of giving our wind to Italy so we can buy it back from them.
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is perfectly capable and now mandated to deliver this type of generation for and on behalf of its shareholder - you and me - it can hire expertise the same way the Italian government can - and hydro should be involved in this type of research. But if we are going to replace - in any part - the fossil fuel generation in Holyrood - the benefits became minimal when we turn it over to Italy.
You see you and I are going to pay for the project over the next 20 years and when it is paid off - we will not own it - we will continue to pay for that virtutally free energy - and we will give the pure profits to the Government of Italy.
You and I will own nothing from our natural resource.
But hey we got 3-5 long-term jobs in St. Lawrence.
What an embarrassment Danny - you have now become the king of giveaways - and we the people will pay for it.
Danny if I have to pay for the power should I not have the right to own it at the end of the day. Instead of buying the house Danny - you signed a long-term lease agreement with the Government of Italy - where we pay the mortgage but gain no equity.
