Excuse me - the people and more particularly the former mill workers of Stephenville would like to wake-up everyday and go to bed every night listening to you talk about pounding the pavement for them.
Instead they see and hear you day in and day out knocking on doors to get Jerome Kennedy elected - because you need that seat don't you!
There are other doors you should be visiting and you should not stop until one of those industries invites you in and says - we will invest in Stephenville.
The commitment you made to Stephenville and the entire region has to be more important than getting your buddy elected. This hockey mentality you are using for elections - makes be wonder whether you are only interested in setting records. Should we put a hockey card out - you sporting a pitcherless plant jersey on one side and your election records on the flip.
Danny Williams #99 1/2 most MHA's elected
Danny Williams #99 1/2 most by-elections won
Danny Williams #99 1/2 highest popular support
Danny Williams #99 1/2 record high polling mid-term
How about this instead:
Danny Williams # 99 1/2 not on my watch
most industries closed one term
most community closures one term
most outmigration one term
largest loss of educated youth one term
Premier the people of Stephenville and the Port au Port peninsula cannot pay their mortgages by explaining to the banker that - they can't pay their debts because you were naive.
It is time to lace up those skates and deliver on your promises to Stephenville - and you should not stop pounding on doors or calling the talk-shows until you find a real solution to the loss of Abitibi.

Sue I am beginning to believe that the present goverment do not want Stephenville on the map. The union executive has been contacted by this broker (if u want to call him that) and he wants to have access to the mill site. Now his services does not come free and he wants the goverment to pay for his services. I think we should entertain him. He says he has 5 potential buyers for the mill. Some of the town councilors can't wait for Abitibi to remove the machine so they can get there hands on the buildings for some potential companies. Like that TEK oil (in which I can't find any info on) Not much support from the Mayor and councilors on that issue. Now you know how much of a fight the union really has here to get someone to listen to this issue.
I can not believe how our Government has all but vanished from the entire Abitibi deal! I agree, if Danny would give us the same attention as he gives the seals and codfish we would have another operator in Stephenville.Danny ran back to St. John's with the mindset that if Stephenville was out of site then it would be out of mind! Shame on the PC Government to abandon a town like Stephenville! Shame on you Danny!
