I would ask the open line hosts to take the few minutes required to read the three pages contained in the Special Report filed by the Auditor General to Cabinet.
If they read it the conversations on-air would be more intelligent.
This is not a question of "if" the money was spent inappropriately, without permission. The audit proves that. The only question that remains is whether or not Ed Byrne and the others have a reason for inappropriate use of taxpayer dollars and who caused the filing of false reports to the House of Assembly. This is not a case where evidence is questionable; it is an audit. Cancelled cheques, signatures, personal accounts, and expense claims are all in order and numbered.
Now what I'm hearing is what a good member he was. Oh yeah, perfect! If this was a normal human being they would be crucified.
1. Is Ed, be the money criminal or a mistake, willing to pay back the over $500,000 he acquired over and above his approved allowance?
2. Was this income reported to Revenue Canada as taxable income as it is above the tax free allowances he is entitled to?
Treat him with the respect he deserves. Now go pay HST so that we can pay these individuals some more.
And all the while the kudo's are coming in for Ed, we are nailing young people for breaking windows and driving fast. HUH?
Tell me what fairness was offered to Fraser March when Ed let loose on him? He was not even charged, but he was dismissed without the benefit of a Court Proceeding.
How gullible are we?
