Harper's Canada is certainly exposing itself in the final week of the campaign.
Grass Roots Reform/Alliance/Conservative supporters are asking Harper to "shut down the CBC".
Why you ask?
Well that's it you can't ask - as Terry Milewski - is booed while simply asking a question.
Terry was not even breaking the Harper dictatorial rule of 5 questions. He was asking the same question again and again - as Harper refused to answer.
I have never seen such disgusting, intolerant behavior from a group of partisans in my adulthood.
Control the PMO with ??? people - how many have there been?
Tell people what they can or cannot do as it relates to minorities - do so through fear. Fear of everything and everyone but the Conservative party. This behavior is bordering on sick - and is very dangerous to our democracy.
Harper and company not only became the first to be found in contempt of parliament but also have taken the skill of lying on very big issues to a new level. If given a majority - people may find themselves subject to the treatment suffered by Canadian citizens exercising their protest right at the G8/G20 72 hour spend fest.
No - it truly is time for Harper to leave office and for Canada to begin the recovery needed to return our nation to the proud global status it enjoyed. Harper's need for control and power makes him an unwelcome intruder into our tolerant and stable - socially progressive and economically viable jurisdiction - that we are.
Please view the video here - and look at the people embarrassing our nation - also watch Harper rocks to the soothing chants of intolerance.
When listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers about events in this province, there seems to be a missing link. One that bridges all that information together and provides a way for people to contribute, express or lobby their concerns in their own time. After-all, this is our home and everyone cannot fit in Lukie's boat and paddle their way to Upper Canada, nor should we!

Why Chantal Hebert said of Harper "many voters...be wary of....promises..."
From the CBC
Members of the Nova Scotia legislature voted unanimously Thursday in favor of a resolution condemning Stephen Harper, the leader of the Canadian Alliance.
The resolution was in response to Harper's comments that there is a "defeatist attitude" in Atlantic Canada.
From the National Post
Williams, who has launched an “Anything-but-Conservative” campaign to defeat Harper’s MPs, warned Canadians of “dire consequences” if they give the Conservative leader a majority government.
“I beg you and plead with you today to stop and think and decide if that is what this country deserves,” Williams told a group of business leaders in a televised address in St. John’s, N.L. “If you believe this country deserves better, then you know what to do — it’s as easy as ABC.”
From the CBC
Harper promised compensation 'in error,' minister says
Prentice now says his party made a mistake and didn't have all the facts when it made the original commitment. That means the court-approved settlement deal that would pay some 80,000 former residential school students an average of about $25,000 each won't apply.
From The Star and Chantal Hebert
How much is Stephen Harper's word worth? In the wake of the Prime Minister's stunning reversal on income trusts this week, many voters will understandably be wary of taking anything he promises at face value in the future. After all, it is the second time in less than a year that Harper broke his word in a spectacular fashion.

The resolution was in response to Harper's comments that there is a "defeatist attitude" in Atlantic Canada.
"There is a dependence in the region that breeds a culture of defeatism," the Opposition leader said Wednesday following question period in the House.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he won't be breaking his promise to Canadians if he calls an election this fall, a year ahead of the fixed date set by his own government.

Can you lie, cheat, break the law or simply be a traitor? Harper needs you!
Short and not-so-sweet overview of Harper's judgement of character Canada. (small sample)
Can you lie? - Harper needs you!
Can you cheat? Harper needs you!
Can you break the law? Harper needs you!
Are you a traitor to your province, your people, your country? Harper needs you!
Fabian Manning applauds Stephen Harper as he broke his promise (lied to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador) ends up in Senate after ABC campaign - now looking to be re-elected in NL - says he wants to look to the future.
Can you lie? - Harper needs you!
Ms. Oda lied about the decision not to renew funding for Kairos by repeatedly claiming it was a decision of the Canadian International Development Agency.
Can you cheat? Harper needs you!
A top Tory strategist has left the Harper campaign after a media mogul outed him for supplying false information.
Can you break the law? Harper needs you!
Elections Canada has laid charges against the federal Conservative Party and four senior officials for exceeding the spending limit in the 2006 election campaign.

A real Progressive Conservative versus an Opportunist
Yesterday - I read a very interesting letter posted on the campaign website of Scott Brison - Liberal incumbent Kings-Hants Nova Scotia. Scott as you may remember was a very effective Progressive Conservative federal MP just after the merger of the PC Party and the Alliance Reform Party to form what is now the Conservative party.
Anyway - Joe Clark former Prime Minister and leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and in the past outspoken against the Conservative Party - sent Scott an open-letter. Although Joe does not condemn Harper outright - you can read between the lines. Joe is a Progressive Conservative!
Now let me introduce an opportunist. For background purposes this fellow is a Newfoundland and Labrador Progressive Conservative MHA and a provincial Cabinet Minister. Kevin O`Brien stood side by side with Danny Williams as the former Premier lead the ABC Campaign after Stephen Harper out and out lied to the people of the province. This lie will cost our children over 10 billion dollars - relative to a non-renewable resource that will be exhausted by the time the next generation enters the workforce.
Currently Kevin - is campaigning for the local Conservative candidates and attempting to fool the people of our province. Please listen to Kevin back in 2008 when he was fighting against Harper. Audio Clip
Kevin O`Brien is an Opportunist.
This Canada is why we are sick of politicians - their lies, their deception, their opportunistic ways - and in Newfoundland and Labrador still sick of Stephen Harper.
Thanks to Donny for the Clip

By the Company he Keeps - Williams - back on Safe and Familiar ground!
Story out of NB Business Journal today
SAINT JOHN - It may have been one of the worst-kept secrets in New Brunswick, but the rumours are true: Donald Trump is coming to the Port City.
The American business magnate and billionaire television personality will headline a special event this fall organized by the same young businessman who brought Richard Branson to Moncton last year.
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Newfoundland premier Danny Williams will also speak at Spark, a motivational event to be held at Harbour Station on Oct. 6.
... Williams, who ended a seven-year run as Newfoundland's premier in December as one of the most popular Canadian politicians, will add the Atlantic Canadian flare to the event, LeBlanc said.
Williams is also a wealthy business titan who has developed one of the largest communications companies in Atlantic Canada.
The article continues....
But will he be back to Newfoundland and Labrador to prevent the Dunderdale sellout to Harper? Will he open his mouth as a passionate Newfoundlander and Labradorian or will he - as he accused Harper of being - turn out to be a political fraud?
Will he show up in New Brunswick and speak of the wonderful Emera deal and how "great" it is for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick? It certainly is not good for us.
Will he watch his PC's fall in disgrace - come October?

Teach your Children Well - To Lie like Hell
Last Election PC's were not Conservatives - Today they are one family - right?
After watching the events of yesterday - the spectacle of our Province's and Canada's leaders clap and cheer for each other - while knowing full well the betrayal they were perpetrating - I find it necessary to at least acknowledge the following:
In our society today - if you are to succeed in either business or politics - you must learn to lie and lie convincingly.
We should all stop and think about exactly what is taking place in front of us - and responsibly look at our children and grandchildren and explain the realities of their world.
Politics and politicians suffer the disinterest of almost half our population due primarily to the broken promises, deceitful and unlawful behaviors, self-serving manipulations, and the incompetence of our leaders and representatives.
Many people simply brush off the promises of politicians as just that "promises of politicians". We expect them to lie, anticipate they will lie, and believe they will continue to lie for a vote. The problem we have as parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children is that they observe and learn from what they see.
A lie is the act of deliberately deceiving the audience you are speaking to by telling them something you know is not true. If somebody makes a mistake - they acknowledge it and explain what is was they were trying to do and say and take ownership of the hardships or repercussions the person who believed you will now have to endure. This was absent yesterday - it was absent after the last two federal elections - it was absent when government was found in contempt - and it was absent when Bev Oda did her deed.
Kathy Dunderdale, Danny Williams, the Cabinet and Caucus of the PC's lied to Newfoundland and Labrador when they asked that people in this province stand together under ABC and punish Stephen Harper for perpetrating an extremely costly lie on our people. How do we know they lied? Well they used ABC for political expedience until they needed to completely reverse their position and now they and they alone will end ABC for political expedience.
Nothing has changed you see - Stephen Harper and Fabian Manning did nothing to admit their lie, nothing to correct their lie, and to date not apologized for their lie. Therefore nothing has changed since the lie - yet our provincial leaders now want us - the sheep - to believe that the behavior is okay now and "we" can move on.
If Harper had told the truth and delivered the truth this province would not need a loan guarantee to develop our own wealth of natural renewable resources - we would already have the money from our non-renewables to do it. The cost to our children - if the project goes ahead - will be a generational atrocity that these lies would have caused.
It is irresponsible for us as parents and grandparents not to teach our children how to lie and lie convincingly if we would like to see them rise to the top. It is irresponsible to punish our children for lying while we vote for and reward our nations and provincial leaders who do lie. It is irresponsible of the Universities and Colleges not to include course work in deception and lies in business and political science programs - that is to say teach the students the benefits and successes of lying and lying convincingly.
Our society currently rewards, praises, and otherwise idolises the liars we elect and to look at your children - after having supported these liars and not teach them that lying is the quickest and most successful method of rising to the top we do them an injustice.
On the other hand - we could teach them that lying is wrong by throwing the bums out.

Something is really rotten - it's not a dead Muskrat
Something is rotten in Newfoundland and Labrador - it`s not a dead Muskrat - but if allowed to fester it will eat away at everything that`s possible for the future of our children.
I have seen plenty of corruption, lies, deceit, and self-serving maneuvers in politics - but in my adult life - nothing comes close to this.
If this rot is not questioned and exposed it will ruin us and it will significantly enrich elite market prostitutes, substantially enrich self-serving - don`t give a damn about anybody else - local companies - and improve the lot of clapping seals for their ignorant, I want a Cabinet Post, blind agreement by lazy self-serving louts we call PC MHA`s.
1. Announcement of a Term Sheet with Emera to develop Muskrat Falls. Newfoundland and Labrador people knew nothing of this prior to the announcement.
2. Danny Williams leaves politics - unexpected - and almost immediately after he announces the Term Sheet. No real answers given for the departure - just sniffles and tears and he proclaims undying love for Newfoundland and Labrador.
3. Kathy Dunderdale appointed interim Premier - which most - including media took to mean she would be the caretaker while the PC Party chose a new leader.
4. Rumors that Kathy might run for the post began to circulate raising expectation that she would step down and pick another non-leadership hopeful to the post.
5. Kathy then says she is not interested in running for the position - and expects that those that are might have to vacate Cabinet posts.
6. Speculation abound that Jerome Kennedy, Tom Marshall, Kevin O`Brien, Tom Hedderson among others were considering the run.
7. One by one these people dropped out while Dunderdale`s name continued to be thrown out - with her approval no doubt. Then came the question again - when would she relinquish the Premier's chair to make her bid.
8. Next the slow progression of unknown promotion of Dunderdale - culminating in Kathy standing without her caucus in an understated announcement that she would seek the leadership of the PC`s. Claiming the support was overwhelming - she had to graciously accept her popularity.
9. Along comes Brad Cabana - who? That's right Brad Cabana - first everybody laughed - but as the party fought his candidacy Liberals and NDP and some longtime - no longer in the loop Tories - started crying foul.
10. The media of the Province - like starving wolves -forgot everything else and packed around Cabana like the next coming until finally the charade was over and Brad found his way over to the Liberal party - waiting with open arms for anybody to want them.
11. No need for Kathy to step down now. No now there would be a coronation for the woman who did not want to be queen.
12. Then there was the fisheries fiasco - yet again another report - that initially government held back - more controversy - then decided to release - and then reject - kind of - maybe - we will see.
13. The fishermen and plant workers of our province begging for a buy-out - a retirement package - anything to save a bit of pride - while all independence is squat out of them.
14. Then the kicker - Danny and Kathy were fighting and word leaked out deliberately that Danny was not going to attend his own tribute - a rift. That certainly put to bed any speculation that Kathy was doing Emera for Dan right? Media did not bite enough so - deliberately leaked out - the rift was bigger than first thought and now the new PC's under new leadership was Harper's best friend.
15. Meanwhile back at the PC ranch Tommy Williams plodded on - still organizing the convention that his brother was not attending. Sure! That makes sense right? Rumors starting to circulate that provincial PC's and federal Conservatives were now going to get the "family" back together. What family? The PC's are not Conservatives right?
16. Meanwhile - Beth Crosbie daughter of John Crosbie - decided she didn't after all want her turn at the trough and let Jerry Byrne - brother of Jack take his turn - while the rumors circulated that this caused a rift between John and Danny.
17. Then Fabian was down every second day passing out money for wharves, roads, airports, whatever it took for the stund Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to forget his betrayal to the people. Everywhere you looked Fabian was there with another cheque - apparently from his own pocket right? No this was Fabian under Harper giving us our own money - money stolen under a lie by Harper. Thus the ABC campaign.
18. Rumors that Fabian, Loyola S, and John Ottenheimer would be seeking election for the Conservatives. Played up like they were making the ultimate sacrifice "lest we forget" as Danny has on the Christmas card in poor taste. Fabs leaving the Senate, Loyola giving up the ambassador for fish, and John walking away from the Nalcor Board as chair.
19. Jerry Byrne presenting himself in St. John's East as the candidate to build a bridge between Ottawa and our province. What bridge? What is he talking about?
20. Danny mumbling on about issues "not Elizabeth" were causing the ill feelings and even that he could no longer get the cell phone numbers of Cabinet Ministers. At this point they are feeling extra confident that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians were stund and they could say and do what they wanted.
21. Elizabeth Marshall senator, wife of Stan Marshall - head of Fortis - comes riding in to chair Fabian's campaign - saying she was right when she did not support Danny's ABC campaign and the other seals now saying they were happy that the "family" was back together again.
22. Danny, the passionate tearful "we got it" Premier states he's no longer interested in the ABC campaign because he is not the Premier anymore - as if that makes a difference to somebody who is really passionate about their province. So he's out of the equation despite the fact he asked every Newfoundlander and Labradorian to follow him down the ABC path as a matter of critical importance to the very heart and future of our province. The most important issue of our lives - he claimed. Nah don't care about that anymore cause I'm not the Premier. He's is calling you and me fools - that's what it amounts to and so far we sit and take it.
23. Rumors that the loan guarantee may be coming now that there is a new relationship between the province and Ottawa has developed. But what of Quebec - the voting grounds of Harper for his majority?
24. Oh but wait Old Harry pops up - Quebec and Ottawa signing an accord on oil offshore that Newfoundland and Labrador apparently contests belongs to this province. Oops. Then there is the Romaine river and the piece about the secret deal between Nalcor and Hydro-Quebec seeing power go to isolated Quebec communities while Labrador communities drive diesel - even after Muskrat Falls is developed.
25. The whole issue with Emera is under-reported secret, commercially sensitive and the driving deal - the new Premier almost possessed with it's deliverance. Throne Speech, Industry speeches - Dunderdale sell sell sell that power. Nothing else matters - get the deal done.
26. Gone from Term Sheet to deals with Quebec company SNC Lavalin like there's no tomorrow.
27. Stephen wants a majority in Ottawa and two to three seats this time in Newfoundland and Labrador might do that for him. So a loan guarantee is coming and Fabian and Loyola - in debt to Harper for the posh positions agree to do the deed.
28. Nobody knows who is involved in Emera - if there are personal enrichment's here worth hundreds of millions of dollars and society should by now realize the extent that some people will go for money.
29. The deliverance of Newfoundland and Labrador - for power to other provinces so they may enjoy cheap power while the people of this province pay for it. The absolute ignoring of Labrador yet again in another giveaway.
30. The deliverance of a majority to Stephen Harper - favour returned by the Benedicts of our province.
31. The deliverance of Old Harry to Quebec along with millions of contracts for Quebec firms and workers from the Muskrat development.
32. The deliverance of hundreds of millions to shareholders (unknown) of Emera. Then the potential takeover of Emera by Hydro-Quebec - permanently barring our independence.
33. The PC MHA's that tore Fabian limb from limb - kiss and make-up as they are told they are now allowed to do. A disgrace to our forefathers - the fighting Newfoundlander and Labradorian.
34. The absolute destruction of rural Newfoundland and Labrador communities letting more of us beg for a living from the richest piece of geography in North America.
35. All of these bums anticipate that we the people are stupid, messiah worshiping idiots - that will bring their pathetic politically and morally corrupt arses to the promised land of wealth. By their behavior they would sell their own mother to achieve it. These bumbling incompetents - standing on their feet talking about the Lower Churchill like they had any clue - leading the people of the this province to ruin.
36. They all have the balls to sell their own people out - not one of them has the balls to do what's right!
37. The media - where are they? Questions regarding a deal or no deal? Questions of an unelected Premier doing a resource development? Questions on Emera? Danny's resignation? The secrecy of a deal - when they demanded Grimes tell it all on Voisey's Bay? The artificial rift? How could Tommy still be in when Danny is out? He can't get cell phone numbers??? Where's the investigation? Where are the questions?
Good luck to you all. This time we are going to need "God Guard thee Newfoundland and Labrador".

For the Love of Newfoundland and Labrador
Today might be one of those banner days - where politicians do what they do best - look after themselves.
Danny Williams is disinterested in the ABC campaign. Why?
A) Harper has decided to live up to his promise and correct equalization? - NO
B) Harper has decided to compensate Newfoundland and Labrador for failed promise? - NO
C) Harper finally admitted he lied and snookered our Premier with a false promise? - NO
D) Williams is no longer Premier so why should he be interested in ABC? - YES
Fabian (FABS) Manning is announcing today that he will seek the nomination for the Avalon again. Why?
A) Fabs has apologized to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador for betrayal? - NO
B) Fabs has promised to deliver the 10 billion dollars he lost on equalization lie by Harper? - NO
C) Fabs now cares more about the province than himself? - NO
D) Fabs promised Harper he would leave Senate and run (always keeps promises to Steve)? - YES
So there we have the deep-rooted passion for Newfoundland and Labrador and her people. I expect to see the head-bobbing seal-clapping backbench and Cabinet of the BeWillderdale government to follow their new Vice-Premier to go rah rah for Harper again. Why? Because Kathy has to deliver Danny's baby (Emera deal) and my calculations show that would be sometime in August unless it comes prematurely.

Polls and Promises the Art of selling out Newfoundland and Labrador
Finally it appears that all political parties in Ottawa are going to hold Harper and his cronies to account. The lying, cheating, and misleading all leave a bad taste in the mouths of Canadians.
I sat and watched the budget yesterday - and wondered - what is the truth? Is Flaherty telling me the truth? Then I quickly reminded myself that he and his colleagues have cooked up some more politics, partisan tripe, and outright spin to see if they can't make it on third down? If all else fails Harper might want to try the US to see if he can make the end line of a fourth down attempt or just agree to pack it in and kick it off to the other team.
What I liked most about the commentary yesterday was the corporate elite telling Canadians - we do not want another election. Banks broadcasting that they was a 5 fold return on investment in the next quarter or half and major faceless shareholders drooling over yet more corporate tax cuts. Corporations do not vote! They do not own our election process - although arguably own quite a number of our politicians.
Then there were the media gurus who had Jack Layton supporting the budget before he left the House - only to be wrong as Jack first took to the mics. You got to give him his due - the Leader of the NDP - as he waited and waited for the Bloc and Liberals to state the obvious - and then after all were finished he arrived to a throng of childlike reporters hanging on to his every word.
Perhaps this election will see the virtual end to the Green Party and perhaps the birth of another to take its place. At the moment the Green's appear to be one very large employer for Elizabeth May and one very considerate draw on taxpayer voting dollars. I would like to see a few more parties in Canada - with choices more like the Bloc but for the rest of us. We need somebody to push for the real changes we need such as reform or abolition of the Senate, the restructuring of our confederation, equity for smaller provinces, equalization that does not punish the development of non-renewable resources, and parties that recognize that people not corporations - vote.
If they want to talk about fiscal responsibility as the Conservatives love to yammer on about - let's try to let them sink or swim on their own - the Conservatives do this but to average Canadians not failing mega-corps. Jim Flaherty like some of his past colleagues (now residing in corporate positions) believe they work for banks - not Canadians. When Flaherty gives yet another tax break to the largest of the largest publicly traded conglomerate - he his doing so with our money - not his.
We will soon find out if political prostitution is alive and well in our province - as we all await what Ms. Dunderdale will recommend to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Will she forget about the 10 billion lost when Harper lied to Williams and to our people - just to fan dangle a loan guarantee for the Muskrat Falls development. A loan guarantee that we would not need if Harper had not screwed us on equalization - rendering our oil revenues a punishment not a mover for our long-term economic stability. Will our Premier - so desperate for the Emera deal - ignore the injustices perpetrated by the Harper administration and move us toward negotiating away even more of our future for that line to Nova Scotia?
The Harper government really needed to shut down the string of lies, deception, and manipulative practises - and so they completed a half-arse election budget knowing that an agreement would not be reached with other parties. Funny it is - watching Harper govern as a majority despite the minority reality - and up until yesterday the other parties allowed this to be.
And so today as I listen to the pundits tell me over and over again on our national media circuit - that Canadians do not want an election - I will remind myself that I must be in the minority - one who believes that parliamentary rules do matter - the truth from politicians must be paramount - and that these elected representatives are answerable to the people not the creepy animated character in some bank advertisement.
Where do I mark my X - I am still on the ABC campaign - as I assume our Premier will be. I wonder if Harper will "promise" a loan guarantee to Dunderdale for the hydro legacy of shame and if Dunderdale will accept that promise like others before her? Will she join the long list of politicians who will sell out this province cheaply and conservatively?
