Make a Promise to Nelson Mandela

What a sad day. We have lost a global humanitarian and South Africa their beloved son. He was an example for us all and a reminder that regardless of what stands in our way - we must work toward human equality and peace.

He was a servant to higher principles and showed us all what it means to be unselfish and what it means to dedicate your life to humankind. He showed us that powers can jail you, try to silence you, try and stop you, try to intimidate you, and unfairly inflict the cruelest of punishment - but they can not prevent your voice, your dedication, your determination, and your courage to do what is right.

Many of our politicians quote him - and sadly that is all they do. We need to look at the life which was Nelson Mandela and try to follow through action not quotes. We need to reflect at what our own lives are and be determined to make them more involved and hold ourselves responsible to make our world a better place.

Ask yourself - is there somebody I can help; is there a senior or child being abused - is there a class of people suffering prejudice - is there greed determined to own it all - is there a society under tyranny and is there injustice anywhere?

Rather than just praise Nelson Mandela with words - reward him with actions - with commitment - with determination - and do one good deed for humankind.

I will celebrate his life - be forever in debt for his life - and will look to be stronger and more determined to do something that makes a difference.

Make a promise to Nelson Mandela.

Sue I agree with all you said on Nelson Mandela. I also think President Obama eulogized him very succinctly in his speech last evening when he stated he is "a man who belongs to the ages".

I hope and pray that other World leaders will take a page from this man's perseverance and beliefs and make a different in the World as Mr. Mandela has done.
