Oh No! Helping Pensioners, Rebuilding Rural NL the fishery, Stopping Muskrat

The minute Liberal leader Kevin Aylward said that he had a solution for the public service pensioners - the place went up. The Leader of the NDP, Lorraine Michael - the professed protector of seniors and the promoter of quality of life for all - says Kevin is irresponsible. Amazing - well it's simple for the pensioners isn't it? No raise no vote. Well that puts 22,000 people in the Liberal camp. They would have family too and that could bring it to well over 40,000 people.

Then there are the fishermen and plant workers. The loss of 40,000 people times 2 and the continued decimation of this tremendous founding resource. The outmigration, the breakup of families either permanently or temporarily, in order to survive what is the biggest industrial loss per-capita on the planet. A billion a year lost from our economy. Seniors without their children and grandchildren. Communities lost to greed by other countries, gross mismanagement at the hands of our Federal Government, continued merchant mentality, incompetence within our provincial government, and the lack of caring by people that are self-absorbed with an "it does not affect me" attitude. So Kevin Aylward speaks to this and attempts to start to put things right. Let's all attack this? Okay so coastal rural Newfoundland and Labrador are all in the Liberal camp. Their children and grandchildren are all in as they watch their communities die.

Next up the pharmacy owners from throughout the province with decades of service to rural communities and inner-city neighbourhoods. The PC's say no to even talking to these people. The NDP have avoided the subject in their campaign, and the Liberals have the most progressive policy in the country - dealing with issues such as lowering drug costs, medication and disease management - all of which save money and improve service. Well that must mean tens of thousands of people are with the Liberals. The Tories new platform has the cost of drugs going down - but with no plan for pharmacy to be able to dispense and counsel on those drugs. Rural NL will be gutted.

Then there is a forestry policy or the lack thereof from the Tories; who have managed to remove two-thirds of the industry from our province. The party who claims to be helping Stephenville and Grand Falls-Windsor has through incompetence removed the grand forestry sector heritage. They have removed high-paying jobs and sent more people to collect a check in Alberta. So Aylward wants to redevelop this sector - must be thousands involved here.

Then we have Muskrat Falls - the giveaway of our life-time - and Aylward is standing square against it. Willing to look at alternatives - taking a better route to find a deal. Gilbert Bennett - remove Holyrood and help out Nova Scotia - and spend 6 1/2 billion to do it? Excuse me?

I will wait to see more from Libs on energy policy.

Rural Newfoundland and the Big Land have to oust this government or they will be sold down an all to familiar river. The Churchill should be etched in our heads so that we may finally start to do something right - this time around.
