Harper's first Scary Quote after the Election: As Canada Erodes

Below is a quote by Stephen Harper in a Globe and Mail article today.
Read it very carefully and remember it as Canada devolves to become unrecognizable.
 
“One thing I’ve learned in this business is that surprises are generally not well-received by the public, and so we intend to move forward with what Canadians understand about us and I think what they’re more and more comfortable with” 

So what do we understand about them - and what does he think we are becoming more and more comfortable with? Notice we are Canadians - they are them - and somehow we are more and more comfortable with something we understand about them "us".
