Canada's most valuable Treasures apparently in Ottawa!!!

Ottawa has all (most significant) museum treasures!!!

The Government of Canada has just given 4 museums in Ottawa 100 million dollars while cutting funds for museums in the provinces. This typical Central Canadian joke - places Stephen Harper in company of other PM's before him - those who consider that Ottawa is Canada.

As Heritage Minister Bev Oda celebrated the announcement - these were her words - quoted from a CBC story.

Oda called the Ottawa venues "keepers of our most treasured and significant heritage" and said in a statement that the funding ensures "that the arts and our cultural heritage will play an essential role in the lives of Canadians for years to come." (emphasis added)

Meanwhile the museums of Newfoundland and Labrador - which hold our most significant treasures - including items from the time we were our own country - are being battered by cuts.

So while our Minister Loyola Hearn writes a good folk song about our history - he whistles to the tune of Oh Canada as our heritage is ignored. There has been no word from the Harper regime on reversing the cut of 4.5 million to the museum assistance program.
