Political Patronage Persona(fied) and lobbied to death - as Deano laments the loss of Brian

Obviously Sue's Blog will be posting on the recent comments by Dean MacDonald - Danny Williams - and others after the weekend news is complete - but needless to say - that is the worst display of ignorance - guilt - and incompetence I've seen in a while.
Dean sputtering about in-house lobbyists and 20% - not a word about other possibilities in the Act. Hey Dean you are lobbying - and the activity you were involved in is lobbying.
The poor Premier thought the Lobbyist Act was to ensure you don't lobby for money!!!!
Bill Rowe - said something like I'm trying to see the relevance in it. Oh okay Bill - gee I could not come up with it. Maybe you should get that third party to comment on it. On every other day - you claim you are a lawyer - and best I can tell you are - this is a matter of discussion on the airwaves - why don't you take the plunge and read the Act.
What did you think the Lobbyists Act was for Bill? The Girl Guides? The Women's Shelter? And "reporter" David Cochrane was suggesting that critics - like me - are not focusing on the economic side of this deal - wrong David - when you get that economics package - let me see it will you? And then tell me David - how is it you know that a public tender or RFP would not have netted a better package?

In either case Sue's Blog will review ALL of the Act over the weekend and into next week so we can all understand what Danny was trying to do when he heralded that legislation as a key piece to his open and accountable government theme. Almost as meaningful as Beth Marshall is our star candidate. If you were half as interested in doing things right as you are at ducking the real problems - we would have open and accountable government. Wait now maybe the Premier was just - naive - on this one.

On the issue of Dean's claim of being a Liberal once - lets allow Dean to explain that to us.

Look at the quote below and watch how "Deano" is not or never was a Liberal supporter - he was there with Tobin - and when Tobin left and Danny entered - Deano moved over to the next holder of the public purse.

This quote from a Mediacaster column in September 2003

"He's also watching Newfoundland & Labrador's political situation with interest. His friend and former majority owner of Cable Atlantic, Danny Williams, is now the provincial Conservative leader and is pegged by many to become the province's next premier. MacDonald is so impressed with Williams that he may help with his campaign in the next provincial election, even though he's a longtime Liberal supporter. But he's quick to point out that he had only been campaigning to help his friend, former Newfoundland Liberal Premier and former federal Industry Minister Brian Tobin, and is not as active in politics now that Tobin has left public life."
