And the smell gets stronger...

CRTC Review calls for "some patronage for the boys"

on the Political Patronage Persona(fied) deal.
What is our government and our Premier really doing for the buddies?

Fresh from the telecom industry - a revelation that the CRTC review of this sector coming next fall will see the gloves come off and competition flourish - with players that are serious.

There has been a push to deregulate this industry for years - the feds through the CRTC have resisted wanting to ensure that enough infrastructure and presence in various local markets developed. Now - it appears - Bell and Telus - to name a couple will get a fairer playing field. By limiting the restrictions on what they can charge to competitors - the upstarts are going to have to invest in some infrastructure of their own - presumably fibre optic lines as well.

Seeing this in the wings industry insiders such as Dean MacDonald know that investment must be made in short order if the players in Newfoundland and Labrador are not going to get knocked out of the competitive arena.

In practical terms - Rogers and Persona will have to make some investments to compete. These companies are able to afford this - but they want an un-fair start. Let's segment the government services - get them on our infrastructure - make them responsible for a percentage of our maintenance and then we are willing to play with Aliant.
This is clearly wrong - and we cannot continue to allow this less than complete information come forward.
