Together design wins European Union's anniversary logo competition |
Winning logo design spells out European Union's message of 'peaceful co-operation, growing prosperity and security in Europe' |
He has created the logo that will be used for the 50th celebrations of the Rome Treaty next year and will soon be recognised all over Europe. Szymon Skrzypczak’s design stood out against more than 1,700 other logo proposals by very talented young designers and design students from all EU countries as well as from Bulgaria and Romania. EU Commission’s Vice President, Margot Wallstr"m, said: “50 years of peaceful co-operation, growing prosperity and security in Europe are reasons to celebrate. It is also an excellent occasion to discuss what we expect from the EU in the future, for our children and generations to come. This is why the focus of all celebrations should be on activities in which as many people as possible can participate”.
His logo wil be seen at all events and activities related to the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome in 2007. In addition, he was awarded € 6,000. Tore Rosbo from Denmark and Jenny Lundgren from Sweden won € 4,000 and € 2,000 for the second and third place. |
What do you think Danny? All the nations of the EU accomplished this logo and brand by reaching out to young designers and and design students - but then again the financial wealth of Newfoundland and Labrador and the need for political pork-barrelling negates the need to seek designs for a nominal fee, promotional promise, and pride - right?

HI Sue,
Like your website.
But I have to say that logo is terrible. I couldn't even read what it said at first - looked like a foreign language (which I thought it might be given it was for the European Union). Maybe they should have shelled out more for something better.
Considering they received 1700 entries there might have been a couple you would have liked.
Maybe we should have paid less for something better...lol
Thanks for your comments on the site.
Keep them coming.
Sue
