Apparently we will be the last to Know

The Premier promised ALL thermal Energy
would be replaced in Labrador by Lower Churchill Power

This morning on CBC radio our Premier referred to Quebec as our neighbour and Ontario as our partner - regarding the development of the Lower Churchill.
Danny is determined to giveaway this resource - and right under your nose. In fact - it appears that he is taking great pride in keeping information from the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Energy Plan is not complete - how can we know what we need for our own use for the next 20-50 years? This Plan is supposed to made available to the public for discussion before implementation.
Do you believe that the Lower Churchill power should be on the table for anybody to negotiate when an energy plan is not completed and made public?
Do you know that this is our most valuable renewable energy resource - and therefore should be the center of an energy plan?

Take this Tory amendment to a Private Members Bill on Kyoto on November 20-2002 in the House of Assembly:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the measures taken by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to reduce greenhouse gas emissions include the replacement by 2012 of all oil-fired thermal and diesel generated electricity in Labrador and on the Island of Newfoundland with clean hydroelectricity generated at Gull Island on the Churchill River in Labrador.

Is the Premier now going to live by that commitment?
Or was the Premier naive when he supported such a policy?

Over the coming weeks Sue's Blog will highlight past policy statements - made by Danny - on the Lower Churchill.
