News Alert How Far Will Animal Rights Groups Go?

Danny and Loyola take note! You think getting rid of the hakapik will help? Think Again!

The following bulletin from SeaFood Intelligence

Eco-Tourists Attack Scottish Halibut Farm
Activists from the hard-line Animal Liberation Front (ALF) have claimed responsibility
for an attack on a Scottish halibut farm (near Kilmelford, Argyll) last week which saw
thousands of fish "released" in the wild, and which are most unlikely to survive their ordeal. SeafoodIntelligence
found a website which reports exclusively on animal liberation issues
and which has published the ALF statement. The same group - labelled by the FBI as a
"serious terrorist threat" - also last week targeted a wild boar farm in the Scottish Highlands. According to the eco-terrorists themselves, they proceeded in smashing all the equipment
they could find ('sinking cages'), including the farm's boat, and a crane was also disabled. Meanwhile, the Scottish police has decided to step up security and to warn fish farmers
about the new threat. Earlier this year, a trout farm had been attacked and lobster pots
destroyed by a group calling itself the 'Lobster Liberation Group'. This is a new extreme
development " and a long-feared one " in the opposition to aquaculture.
