The Elite and the War in Afghanistan

Does it bother you at all that supporters of Canada's position on the Afghanistan war - primarily come from priviledge. Yes that includes our federal politicians.
Listening to Bill Rowe and Danny Williams go on and on about the fine work Canada is doing in Afghanistan and the important sacrifice our young men and women are making - especially when they die in the field is nothing short of arrogance.
One woman mentioned the unmentionable on the lines last week when she wondered aloud what the socio-economic group most of the troops have come from. This is extremely important and something we need to know.
Do you believe that these people who pontificate on the virtues of Canada doing its share to bring democracy and rights to peoples globally encourage their own children to join up and answer the call? Do you believe their children sign up to get an education?
Here are some frank questions we should all ask:
1. How many MP's have children in the Armed Forces?
2. How many MP's are encouraging their children to enlist?
3. How many provincial politicians have children serving in Afghanistan?
4. How many Canadian politicians have children earning education by serving?
5. How many Senators have children enlisted and/or serving in Afghanistan?
6. Why does Newfoundland and Labrador continue to have a disproportionate number of people serving in the forces?
7. How many of our corporate leaders such as Stan Marshall at Fortis, Angus Bruneau, Danny Williams, Vic Young, John Risley, Bill Barry, the Crosbies, the Johnsons, the Hickmans, the Ayres, the Steeles, and the Dobbins have children serving in Afghanistan?

Let's see the list!
Then let's take off the blinders and understand the sacrifice is not directly related to them. Yes there is a descrimination here and how anxious would they be to support if there was a draft where their own children could be included. Then again the upper-crust have managed in the past to keep their kids from harm - even with a draft.
Bloody hypocrites all of them - and not where we should go for our wisdom on Canada's role in places like Afghanistan.

Then there is the picky corporate choices of where to wage a battle. The elite once again calls the shots, else we would protect the rights of workers in Asia in countries such as China. This would not be acceptable to our corporate giants who are shipping all of our natural wealth east and the jobs along with them.
This would not be acceptable when these business giants are taking advantage of slave labour. Where's all the condemnation of these jurisdictions? Not convenient hey boys? This may sound simplistic and it is - they would like to discredit this to keep attention away from their own behavior.

Look at the big name basketball players, football stars, network TV talk show hosts and ask why they thank God for having hundreds of millions and billions of dollars. This is what they believe - the the God chose them to have billions for themselves - what a joke and a great big con on society.

So the next time you hear one of our local elite comment on the importance of personal sacrifice - take what they say in context.

Now the holiest of the holier than thou has just entered the debate on Canada's "same sex marriage law" - it appears the Pope is miffed at our country for practising our constitiution properly. Let me ask this - where was the pontiff when the victims of Mount Cashel were fighting for years with the Church and its insurance companies on compensation for the sexual and violent crimes committed by the elite of the religious community.

We should not shy away from real debate when female members of the Afghan parliament are questioning whether or not this whole war effort is bringing the desired results.

Bring our troops home.
I would be happy to hear from any of the people or groups I have mentioned to explain to me where I am wrong.
