How would you like all of your power to rely on whether a storm in the Caribbean turns into a hurricane or not. Day to day fluctuations in price - as other places in the world are hit with war or floods or hurricanes or economic sanctions.
Right now we have too much of our generation reliant on the price of oil. Various regions in Labrador and Holyrood (on the Island grid) are quite enough and really unacceptable when we have 5000 MW's of cheap hydro flowing out of Labrador.Think about that for a minute - just 1200 of those MW's would take care of all that mess and some to spare, yet we are going through continued price hikes because we rely on oil. For that same reason we have lost and will lose more industry.
Now the Williams' team want to EXPORT Lower Churchill power. What a joke, and one that will cost us our future.
Meanwhile the downgrading of Ernesto - back to a tropical storm - has dropped the price of oil by a buck in trading today.
