the Oil and Gas quicksands

On July 22-05 Premier announces the new CEO and President of Hydro

In part his biography was given as follows:

Ed Martin

In his most recent position as manager, Petro-Canada Joint Ventures and New Developments, Mr. Martin was responsible for Petro-Canada's interests in Hibernia, White Rose, Hebron, New Developments (including natural gas), Acquisitions, Tankers, and Transshipment Terminal. Prior to that he spent nine years with the Hibernia Management and Development Company and over 10 years with Mobil Oil in Halifax, Calgary and St. John's.

Considering that Hydro's mandate has been expanded to take in the critical oil and gas sector (as it should) and considering the Premier's stated prejudice against those who have been involved with the oil sector as it relates to local interests - why would he have appointed Ed and not Max?

Something really stinks here and I think the fumes are gas and those who will eventually control it.
Andy has been involved with FOGO (friends of gas onshore) and Williams and MacDonald have always had a personal business interest in these types of assets.

I think it's safe to say (and I don't give a damn if it's not) that the MacDonald and Williams connection is well known, as is the Andy-Danny gas show. I have to look forward into Martin's interests but I do have a lead.

The gas potential is extremely good both on the current offshore areas as well as Labrador potential - that potential has to be controlled and the CNLOPB is kind of in limbo until the province determines what the gas royalty regimes will be, and more importantly who the development players may be.

I'm sure the boys would love to have gas onshore and if they had their dithers they would like all of us to be connected to it like cable. For whatever reason the ducks are not all in a row for the boys unless Andy is in place.

If you listened to Williams yesterday - he said the interim chair of the CNLOPB is performing fine and in fact could carry on indefinately (as Williams gets Andy on the board) so why not recommend leaving him there Danny.

Oh this stinks to the high heavens.
