Nowadays it's hard to blog without mentioning Loyola Hearn's latest folly. Today the Minister has finally waded in to the Portnoy situation by suggesting that the House of Commons Standing Committee on Immigration hold hearings in the province.
This should work out well. Remember the other standing committee Loyola - you know the one on fish - that lead to a motion and vote in the House of Commons and then your pre-election promise that the Conservatives would invoke custodial control of the Grand Banks and Flemish Cap.
Well Minister you broke that promise - what can we possibly expect you would do with this standing committee?
For instance you might say - I believe that people who have been in Canada this long should stay - and then you'd promise that for another election kick at the cat - after elected you'd probably become the Minister of Immigration and live up to (break, lie) about another thing.
While I'm at it, PSAC is expecting cut in federal jobs for our province - what's your promise on that one? Let's see like put back the weather office with or without aviation and then kill the Gander airport. That works well Loyola.
The next Myths and Realities page the DFO should put up is what Loyola says as a candidate and what he says as a Minister. Figure out which one is myth and then live with the realities.
I'll kick it off:
Myth #1
A Conservative government would take custodial control over the Grand Banks and Flemish Cap.
Reality #1
We are elected now and we don't have to.
