Does anybody know why we transferred Tuna quota to PEI, geez you think we could get a cannery for Harbour Breton or Fortune or.....
The story below from CBC PEI...
Three tuna were landed by early afternoon, with more reported on the hook as the tuna fishing season opened on P.E.I. Tuesday.
Tuna fishermen began the day with high expectations, and they weren't disappointed, North Lake harbour manager Sheila Eastman told CBC News.
"It's exciting. There's lots of boats going every which way and lots of people around, and lots of tourists seeing their first tuna and enjoying the sights at North Lake," said Eastman.
A 558-pound tuna, one of the first of the season, is laid out for dressing at North Lake.

"Apparently there's been some action up in Tignish. I think there's been some action down towards Naufrage. It looks promising all up and down the shore."
The Island season opened with a 214-tonne quota, up from 186 tonnes last year.
The Island received the increase after fishermen went over their quota by six tonnes in 2005, even after Newfoundland transferred an additional eight tonnes to the Island.
