Not much talk these days regarding rural Newfoundland and Labrador. How are the communities doing? How many families have left Stephenville, Fortune, Harbour Breton, Marystown, St. Joseph's and so on?
Where are the community leaders anyway?
I believe the union in Fortune is fine, they do not even return calls to people who are concerned.
So Danny, take note the people of Fortune like so many others are frightened to death to open their mouths and in other cases those who would speak are gone to Alberta.
The Mayor in Anchor Point is plain ignorant. I suspect he actually drops names to get the government to listen.
I wonder do all these leaders think they are doing somebody a favour by sitting in silence while their communities die.
So what's the latest economic recovery plan for (off the avalon) region?
Has Danny Williams agreed to meet our Federation of Agriculture yet?
Where's Doug House? Can we get an update on his plan for the province?
Where's the Liberal Opposition?
So what's up with the members who are under review?
Can a constituent just call them for help?
How's Marine Atlantic doing?
How's it going with the Air Canada flight to England?
How are negotiations going with the feds on joint management of the fishery?
What's the plan for the seal harvest next year?
Did Loyola Hearn ask for and receive a proposal for research on the observer permits and federal policy on the seal harvest and if so was the information used improperly? (More to come on this) Probably a column.
Why was Scott Simms sent to Europe to represent Canada on the seal harvest?
What was the deal for that? ( Another column)
