Since posting "Conservative Disgrace" many of you have asked for a picture of my friends call display. Here is is:
Further information from my friend: He tells me he was a member of the CPC over a decade ago while supporting a local candidate. They actually asked him if he now wanted to renew his membership!
Please remember this was taking place while the nation mourned yesterday and our national networks were broadcasting all of it live.
This is a disgrace.
When listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers about events in this province, there seems to be a missing link. One that bridges all that information together and provides a way for people to contribute, express or lobby their concerns in their own time. After-all, this is our home and everyone cannot fit in Lukie's boat and paddle their way to Upper Canada, nor should we!

Conservative disgrace!
I visited friends this evening and during the course of our discussion over tea - what they told me was unbelievable.
At approximately 2:30 pm today Newfoundland and Labrador time - they received a call from 709-702-8496. On the other end of the phone was a representative of the Conservative Party of Canada's "customer care" line looking for a political donation. First the caller asked if perhaps the person would like to donate $100 and then after a "no thank you" reply asked perhaps if $50 would be better - and after a further "no thank you" suggested $35 to which he received the same reply. He then asked my friends what they would like to contribute - they responded nothing - not interested.
What followed next was appalling - the Conservative representative then suggested that my friends should really reconsider - and why was that? Well imagine if Trudeau had been the Prime Minister in the week that we just had....and on it went.
So on the day that the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was reopened and 2 new guards took their places - and on the day that the procession of Corporal Nathan Cirillo carried his body home from Ottawa to Hamilton - the Conservatives felt this was an ideal time to fund raise?
This is a disgrace.
So while Canadians were paying tribute to a fine young man - the Conservatives wanted some cash?
This is a disgrace.

Peter MacKay visits Peter Penashue in the land of Nod
Peter MacKay is piece of work - of that there can be no doubt.
Peter MacKay the defected PC - the king maker - the opportunist.
So in he comes to Newfoundland and Labrador with federal bucks and a promise of a Cabinet Post for Peter Penashue.
Why he asks would anybody vote for any other than Peter Penashue (the election cheat)?
Don't the people of Labrador know that they really don't have a choice? Don't they know that an Opposition member is worthless and just "...maybe get to yell at the government two or three times a week in question period..."?
The election is all a folly thinks Peter MacKay - we don't live in a democracy and only god Harper has control. If you want anything in Labrador - you had better rescue Peter P from the land of Nod.
Attack ads on Mr. Trudeau - flyer's in mail boxes - attempted and somewhat successful control of the media. Harper and his man-in-waiting see no value to our electoral system - no value in our democracy?
How should we perceive this then? There is no need for Opposition members in Canada? There is no role for anybody but a member on the Government side? They demonstrably don't mind election act violations or attempting to buy people with their own money.
I think the people of Labrador will decide what they want and Peter MacKay just made it much more palatable to vote anything but Penashue.
With the Burton Winters tragedy still fresh in all our minds - continued failed promises to Labradorians - and now the attempt to force play a vote - I think Peter MacKay has just guaranteed a loss.
Vote Labrador Vote - for whoever in your minds deserves it.

Drinking and Driving Pays? Ask Prime Minister Harper

The Race to Save Canada from its CEO
It's hard to tell just how much damage Harper can do over the next three years.
After the federal election - May of 2011 - Harper said the following: “One thing I’ve learned in this business is that surprises are generally not well-received by the public, and so we intend to move forward with what Canadians understand about us and I think what they’re more and more comfortable with”.
Read and reread the quote.
Our Prime Minister is an educated man and he understands fully the statements he makes.
I would like a few English professors to interpret this quote.
What it means to me is Harper believes he is an all powerful CEO of a privately held major corporation.
What it means to me is Harper does not understand he is running a country.
What it means to me is that the shareholders of the company he believes he runs are not Canadian.
What it means to me is that Harper believes "voters" understood him and his ilk.
What it means to me is that Harper fully plans to make us comfortable with his agenda.
What it means to me is that Canada will not be recognizable when he's finished.
What it means to me is that - the Race is On to Save Canada - and it had better happen before too many policies are virtually irreversible.
What is particularly scary about Harper is that not one Progressive within Conservative rank and file MP's has crossed the floor.
He was raised as an adult by ideology that is foreign to most Canadians and his role is to deliver this country up to particular global entities.
Liberal and NDP members in the Commons had better do more than posturing.
Canadians had better do more than gasp.
Our PM lies with ease, deceives at his pleasure, and rules through intimidation.
Our laws mean nothing to him and he believes he is entitled to secrecy whenever he chooses.
He is not a man of science but is rather a man of ideological zealotry. Canada did not suit his beliefs - so he will change it.
Hi is a very dangerous person and he happens to be the Prime Minister.

WANTED - a few Tories - to play Monopoly - Do Not Pass GO
As RoboMonopoly (Canadian Edition) reaches new heights of corruption - Canada is looking for a few token Tories to do what nobody else can - stand up for democracy.
Of the PC's that remain in Parliament - surely there must be a dozen or so willing to leave Park Place and walk to Marvin Gardens. If the dice keep rolling the way they have over the past week - I expect to see "go directly to jail" do not pass go. I expect the Chance Cards are causing significant sweaty stress to some CON-servatives right now and they might be better off if they missed a turn.
The Free Space may not be an option if evidence keeps coming in the way it is.
I don't recall an option of military intervention in the game - although Peter MacKay is not beyond making up his own rules. The sense of entitlement he feels is either a direct result of Elmer's arrogance or a new found relief of power to compensate for his traitorous acts to his former - now defunct - party.
You can't hide Peter and you are inextricably hitched to the Harper hat.
Win at all costs - win at all costs - and our lying Prime Minister for his part could convince himself that this is acceptable - as Canadians need him right now.
Once again I state that Stephen Harper is a liar and he also happens to be our Prime Minister. He displays no concern when he is caught lying, no concern when a member of his caucus lies, and absolutely shows no respect for the Elections Act.
If a few Tories felt really Canadian - at this moment - and took a stroll across the Board - our country could avoid the absolute dismantling of our values, our democratic system, and our economy.
If they do not Canadians will have to abandon online communications, cellular technology, and hide from our military. Make no mistake about it Harper is a right-wing extremist who will lie to get what he and his ilk require - in this case that means rendering Canada redundant.
So it's your turn now - before you roll the dice again - decide if you are up to a trade. Trade the blue properties for red, orange, or green and you could help save us from the most deceptive zealot ever to have graced the House of Commons.

If you can Drink and Drive - Harper wants YOU - How to get Harper's Respect
If one wants to get Stephen Harper's attention, respect, and support do three things:
Drink and Drive, increase taxes for ordinary Canadians and be at your lowest political popularity .
For all the anti-crime, longer prison sentences, and making criminals pay - Stephen Harper apparently will have no problem appointing a convicted drunk driver to the lofty post of High Commissioner to Britain.
Media reports today suggest that Harper is ready to announce the Gordon Campbell position.
At two times the legal alcohol limit in Hawaii - former BC Premier Gordon Campbell - looks happily under the influence in his mug shots.
So if that qualification for such a title is not enough - add the fact that when the Premier resigned - he did so after he mislead the people on his party's plans relative to the previous election on HST. His popularity plummeted among the voting public.
Well done - so I guess Harper believes in rehabilitation - and if they complete a program - they too can become a foreign official.
For instance perhaps all those rioters in BC could follow the path of Campbell and rise to the top of society in just a few short years.
And best of all - because Harper is appointing a former Liberal - the convict appointment will be non-partisan.
So for those families who have had their lives changed forever by a drunk driver - what do you think?
For Stephen Harper - breaking the law, misleading the electorate, or just lying are great attributes for high posts.

Family Commitments and Choices - Dunderdale chooses Harper over People
The story today is that Kathy Dunderdale is "unavailable" to attend the rally being held to fight the closure of the marine rescue sub-centre - this due to "family commitments".
This is a fundamental stand of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador against the stated action of the Government of Canada. This is not optional! The people of this province want to fight - and the Premier must stand with them.
You can speak to an oil conference, other Premiers, and the Prime Minister - you Premier should be present at this event.
Here's the real problem and we need some answers. Let's say that we accept that this family commitment is of such urgency or importance that our Premier must say no to a matter of dire concern to the province - then why did the Premier not offer optional dates to the committee?
Why did the Premier shut her mouth and give no direction to the people of the province? Why didn't the Premier organize a provincial rally and ask other groups to support the government in the direction? Why did the Premier only comment after an ad hoc organization announced the date of the rally? How long did the Premier want to wait?
Once again Kathy Dunderdale is not showing leadership capabilities. Dunderdale is not showing enough competence to be an interim leader let alone a Premier.
Kathy Dunderdale - is obsessed with the completion of the Emera/Muskrat giveaway and that type of zealotry should make us all - very afraid.

Jim Flaherty joins Stephen Harper at the top of the Lying Elite (Power and Politics)
I just finished watching Canada's Finance Minister Jim Flaherty on Power and Politics.
I am absolutely relieved to know that our Jim will be a one term wonder and that he will destroy any confidence Canadians who voted for him and his party had.
Our Princeton schooled elite lawyer is now all about the second coming of the "Common Sense Revolution" - you know the economic religion of Mike Harris promoted by then Minister of Finance of Ontario, the one and only (thankfully) Mr. Flaherty.
Ultra fiscal Conservative and disciple Flaherty and ultra social Conservative Reform disciple Stephen Harper. It will be a rough 4 years but then I believe it will end.
Flaherty is not a financial guru - he used the systems left by former Finance Ministers - and those who operated distinctly different in ideology than him. He inherited banking policy, EI funds, balanced books, and a system which was fundamentally different than the USA (crippled by its own fraudulent, corrupt, and unregulated system). Flaherty as was his boss Mike Harris - is a Reaganomics lovers.
Flaherty and his PC's in Ontario were replaced after people became sick of waiting for the rebirth of finance and he (Flaherty) successfully accomplished nothing memorable during his tenure - other than hardship for anyone other than financially wealthy families. Then Flaherty ran - unsuccessfully twice - for the leadership of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives. Why did Tories not elect this "genius" to be their leader? He was too conservative. He is absolutely at home with his new ultra-right-wing reform party.
Now as is typical of right wing conservative fanatics - Flaherty is hypocritical - and will do what is necessary in the moment. In a minority Harper government - he spent like a drunken labour socialist on steroids - with the exception of who actually benefited. Make no mistake social - human welfare will be replaced by corporate welfare. He will keep taxing ordinary Canadians to reduce taxes for the largest of the corporate world.
Today - on Power and Politics - with Evan Solomon - Flaherty tried to defend the elimination of election financing. As with other ultra-right-wing liars - the Minister kept looking toward the floor and not the camera (presumably to keep a straight face) as he tried to justify the elimination of fairness and equity in democracy.
Flaherty tried to explain to Solomon that the $2 dollar per vote system meant that somehow my money would not be going to a party I support. Hang on now Minister it is based on actual votes. It is a fair system that places us closer to a representative system rather than the "first past the post" system we suffer under.
Now Mr. Flaherty hear this from this taxpayer and voter - you have not removed the system of tax credits for political contributions wherein I know my money is going to support parties and candidates I do not support.
Mr. Flaherty talked about "passing the hat" and getting a contribution - he added write a cheque. Ditto Mr. Flaherty - when people give a political contribution - they will continue to get a tax credit. How about if you write a cheque for a political party - don't hold your hand out waiting for me to give you a partial refund of your contribution.
The Finance Minister was also very elitist when he suggested the writing of cheques - what of Canadians - the families he goes on and on about who pay tax - and at the end of the day do not have enough to put away for a pension? Flaherty is talking about more affluent Canadians who have funds to spare after the basic needs, tax, pension contributions, and financial contribution for their children's' education. These affluent Canadians will write the cheque because Mr. Flaherty will make sure the companies they head or run will get tax breaks - and they are likely to get the opportunity to pick up public assets at a cheap privatization price.
Flaherty is going to hack the public service and he will hack programs that are important to people in most need. Flaherty will continue the practice of Corporate welfare and you and I will pay for it.
Flaherty had no problem bailing out the auto giants - and will claim he did so to save a job. Jobs would have rebounded as new corporate entities filled the void of bankrupt companies who "did not live within their means".
Ontario put him in - and Ontario should have known better. But as is usually the case in this failed federation - the big decide and the smaller pay and suffer.
Flaherty will justify the G8 G20 fiasco about to be revealed - including a fake lake - however clean water and food for children - that will have to wait. That's just "common sense", as Mr. Flaherty sees it.
I wonder how easy it would be to get a face to face with the Minister if you are the CEO of Scotia Bank? Do you think you can get the same meeting to address your needs?
Mr. Flaherty you and your party have sucked off the public teat to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. You and your party have benefited more from our election financing than any other - and still the Conservatives wanted to break the rules/law when it suited the political needs.
Flaherty like Harper is a political fraud and a hypocrite.
Thank you Evan Solomon for a decent interview that was very revealing. The only question you missed was - when are they cutting all funds for the CBC?
