Royal Canadian Mint

Head Office and Manufacturing Plant Ottawa, Ontario - Winnipeg Manitoba NOT NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR

The Royal Canadian Mint, a profit making Crown corporation, has a worldwide reputation for fine craftsmanship in coin making. All Canadian coins, as well as medallions, tokens, medals, Maple Leaf bullion coins and foreign currency, are produced at its headquarters in Ottawa or at the branch plant in Winnipeg.

Canada's Money Maker

Although the Royal Canadian Mint was originally established to produce only Canadian coins, its reputation for excellent quality has led to commissions from around the world.

The initial work in the minting process, design and engraving occurs at the Ottawa plant under the supervision of the Master Engraver. Collector coins, medallions, medals and Maple Leaf bullion coins are produced in Ottawa, while circulation coins, tokens and trade dollars are minted in Winnipeg. Visitors can follow the steps of the minting process on a tour of the facilities in Ottawa.
