Roger is building a bridge...and John is avoiding one

Roger Fitzgerald called open-line a couple of days ago to announce a new bridge in his district. Don't get me wrong it should be replaced and is important for the commuters of the area.
But Roger...next time you call open-line tell us what you think of the fishery - something you spent so much time on while in opposition. This has probably been the worst thing to come out of the Williams administration - but wait Randy asked...
Roger says, on the Premier's suggestion to consider accepting lower wages. - I didnt hear the words - the problem with it is that the problem in my district are making less money now than a ten ago - the people who work in Bonavista and Port Union would probably leave with a wage reduction. So another member disagrees with the Premier's "personal opinion". Problem with that is - who do you think has more clout? Roger, Tom, or the Premier?
As it relates to the mess of the fishery - Roger did not comment on that - nor was he asked. If Fitzgerald wants to shed the coat-tails of Williams he must make an effort to speak out for the fishermen and plant workers. I can't imagine why Roger would call on a bridge but not on the Fisheries Summit, outmigration, or rural decimation.
Another voice lost!
Now on to John Hickey and his bridge, well the Metis Nation did the right thing a couple of days ago and stood on the Churchill River Bridge waiting for Minister John Hickey to show up and bolt a ceremonial panel. The Metis are protesting the lack of consultation with the province on the Trans Labrador Highway and in a subtle way other issues as well. We will explore some doozies here in the coming week. Anyway - the story goes the Metis were not wearing hardhats so John would not come for safety reasons. He must of chosen to plant a tree in his Labrador office instead because he was too busy for the Metis when they showed up there - later.
