Is wave of consolidation coming to Atlantic Canada?

Atlantic Canadian seafood firms are poised to lead a wave of global consolidation after nearly 20 years of grim challenges, including the collapse of groundfish stocks in the early 1990s, says an Icelandic investment firm expanding in Canada.

Danny do you know anything about this? Did you hear of this in Iceland on your trip - or was that part of your trip?
Odd timing I think - and now the Premier is softening the union workers for FPI. HMMM

Well congrats to the CBC Fisheries Broadcast for taking it seriously and following up to get the local angle. They trcked down the Icelandic Investment Firm and got the scoop. Yes there is an active agenda to merge some fish corps. - and some of the names bandied about were FPI, Clearwater, and Cooke Aquaculture. Further the CBC dug out the news that these guys and other major players in the fishery got together for a fish summit of their own in Nova Scotia on the weekend.
Well Danny and Tom - did you know about this - is this what you were waiting for before you came out with recommendations for the industry? Are they calling the shots - including the Premier's strange statement about FPI workers taking a pay-cut?
