and Danny wants energy exported.
We are now 1.5623% of Canada's population.
This from a Globe and Mail story today.
Newfoundland and Labrador lost population for the 14th straight year and was the first Canadian jurisdiction to see more deaths than births over the course of one year.
Okay Danny let's hope we have many "homing pigeons" as you have termed our people leaving the province.
Can you imagine the disaster that is per-capita funding?
Can you imagine how menial we are in this federation?
And now on the heels of this, the Great One #99.5 laces up the skates to take on Quebec - as he has just figured out that everything they do is to render us null and void - and the poor man cannot see past exporting our energy to Ontario. He talks of Canada reliant on Quebec for power, he does not have a clue! He must no be allowed to follow this mindset into a Lower Churchill deal.
Hey DAN - we don't need to export our power - that's exactly what they want us to do. We are in no way reliant on Quebec for power unless of course you export it all! Duh!
Use the power to attract industry! Where is the energy plan?
Ed Martin wants Ontario to pick "our low hanging fruit" - my god what is wrong with people?
Now the fellow wants Stephen (our other gem) to support Newfoundland and Labrador over Quebec - we should rely on this right?
The man is saying there is no future for Labrador or the Island for the next 25 -50 years - we have to give our power to Ontario where industry is willing to go.
The fight Danny is with yourself - the fight is for our province.
You are going to argue that Canada should not support Quebec because it is politically unstable?
What?
You are power on a power trip!
Your buddy Dean was negotiating the same river developments with Quebec when he was under Brian Tobin doing a Churchill deal - now they are just going ahead because they have changed the maps and borders of the province. Are you with us yet #99.5?
What sense is there to consider these deals with the Lower Churchill when the Energy Plan is not completed - in fact we are just finishing the public hearings!
To even suggest that Quebec can cause our project to lose value is irresponsible and demonstrates complete ignorance.
Read Danny's rant from CTV
Some of Danny's comments;
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The country's reliance on energy from Quebec should be reduced because of the province's unstable politics, he said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What reliance on Quebec? The country does not rely on energy from Quebec - in fact that province has been a net importer over the past few years. BC does not rely on Quebec, Manitoba does not rely on Quebec, Alberta certainly does not rely on Quebec, Saskatchewan does not rely on Quebec, New Brunswick does not rely on Quebec - oh he must mean the country consists of Ontario. They rely on everyone.
Ontario relies on Ottawa for jobs jobs and more jobs
Ontario relies on minerals from other provinces to keep their industry moving
Ontario relies on employment insurance for seasonal workers
Ontario relies on energy from everybody else to keep their growth going.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then there was the the statement on unstable politics - bet Charest didn't see that one coming from his buddy - smack - because Danny just figured out we were or more particularly he was being snookered by Quebec. Get over it Danny their just good! They will spin circles around your vision - and they will bloody well make sure their own energy is there for industrial growth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quebec is striving to choke off access to major energy markets such as Ontario and render Lower Churchill Falls futile by pressing ahead with its own energy plans, he added.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh my - Quebec can't choke off our markets if they are our own. Hard for them to choke a market for power in Wabush for an aluminum smelter or Goose for a copper smelter. Hard for them to choke power to Stephenville for a manufacturing or processing facility or Argentia/Placentia for a gas refinery. Oh you mean they will choke off the market to Ontario? Good I will help them do that! We must not sell our future to Ontario - I thought you said "no more giveaways". What do you call shipping our most valuable competitive natural renewable resource to Ontario? That my friend is the biggest giveaway! It is bigger than Churchill Falls because today we know what the value is.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The fact that Quebec came out with their plan and are trying to tie up basically the capacity that's available right now is all part of that,'' he said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that comment makes makes no sense! What does that mean Danny?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ontario is very interested in the clean energy that Lower Churchill offers, Williams said, but admitted there's nothing stopping Ontario from signing a deal to get power from Quebec.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So what? That means they do not have our energy to grow their economy - in case you have not noticed we are going nowhere fast and our people are chasing our resources all around Canada because they can't get any benefit from them here.

I still think the Kitimat model is the way to go.
